StripHair horse grooming system??

I just ordered the little one for my saddle pads, paid a stupid amount for it, but I am at my wit’s end! I have several back on track pads with the fuzzy underside and sweet mother of god the hair pretty much embeds into the saddle pad. Short of picking each hair out individually, I have tried everything from stiff brushes, vacuums, anything I could think of and nothing works. And this is just 2-3 rides worth of yak-hair. Will report back once I receive it and use it!

In the meantime, if anyone has since found a cheap alternative to the striphair block for saddle pads I’m all ears! For the yak himself I just buy hacksaw blades from Canadian Tire for $5 a piece and bend them into a curve and use them by themselves, sans wooden block.

There is currently a Facebook video of someone actually using a small strip of rubber stall mat material in a similar manner and claiming good results.

So this afternoon I’m off to the ranch boneyard to find some stall mat leftovers to try this concept!

(I would link to FB post but am an FB nitwit and can’t find it now)

A friend of mine had gotten them as a present last year…reminded me an awful lot like a piece of stall mat cut to size.

I got the StripHair kit as a gift. It does a good job pulling the hair out of my felt pads and cinches. Works well pulling hair off my gelding, too. He’s pretty sensitive and seems to like it better than other shedding options.

Well I have one. They work really well removing hair. I can’t say they do a better job than curry comb. What i will say is, they allow the actions of the removing hair more efficient, hence greatly reducing grooming time. The other day I spent about ten minutes on my mare, and in those ten minutes, I collected a bucketful of tightly packed hair. My horses seem to like them too. I think they act like strapping tool, like what physical therapist use to remove tight muscles.

I started a thread about all these new tools in HC recently, and I’ve got a ton of small strips of stall mat left from fitting a not-quite-square stall that I’m about to go cut up myself!

I went and bought one of those black drywall sanding blocks, 'cause that is what the Strip Hair reminds me of. Tried it on a couple of horses today. It works!
