Stud plugs

I heard about it a couple of weeks after the show, but I don’t know more than that about timeline. I heard more about the “after” from the owner and our vet, not so much about the “before/while it was happening” part. And I have no idea how long something like normally takes to happen…IOW, I could imagine it happening within a few days orrrr never? I guess it would just depend on if it was a small rock that got in and worked it’s way up the hole or simply the dirt itself. I would imagine that it’s a bit like winning the lottery…odds are small, but when it happens it’s a pretty big deal!

Hey there @PNWjumper,

If you’re going to Bend for the High Desert Classic I or Ii, shoot me a pm…

I get off the ranch every now and then and make the two hour drive to Bend for groceries/Costco/tractor parts.

I evented in a former life. If I can find it, I have a stud kit, and I would love to be your groom for an afternoon. It would be great fun to have someone to root for, wipe some boots off and hold a horse or two.

A tip for removing the cotton or foam plugs- dental picks work AMAZING!! The are tiny, pointy, and some have a curve so the are great for scraping out threads, getting under a Little Rock, etc when a horseshoe nail is too straight.
