Stuff to do with a yearling :)

We do trail walks with ours. They seem to really enjoy it and gets them out and about.

I taught my yearling to lunge (at a walt and trot) in two lessons, no kidding. I started her circling me at a walk on a long lead rope the first day and by day two she was walking, trotting and stopping on the lunge line. I only worked her maybe ten minutes a day at most and not every day.
As far as loading and trailering, remove the center divider if you can so that your trailer is a box stall. Our trainer recommended backing the trailer up to the barn (if you can) and closing the barn doors up to the trailer so that there is no space between the trailer and the barn. Our filly loaded quitely (she had been in the trailer only twice before) and in less than 5 minutes. I thikn it’s essential that they know how to load onto a trailer at an early age in case of an emergency. You don’t want your first time loading your young horse to be an emergency situtation!
