Woody and Karen had competed at Hartpury HT in a CIC*** the weekend after Gatcombe. Not at the advise or desire of the selectors but of her own accord to make sure that Woody had his game face on for the next challenge, whether that would be WEG or Burghley. And Bonnie will be riding CLose The Deal at Blenheim and Jenga at Burghley. She is a an extremely good rider and a great person and has dealt with the decisions as a true professional and class act. She is enjoying some down time and sight seeing before the next two challenges facing her. Kick on, Bonnie! And Becky!
Anyone know how Bonnie and Jenga are?? I’ve heard about all 3 alternates except her!! Stephen’s out, Will moved up, Jan moved down, and Karen is in. What about Bonnie???
Sigh. Again, Jan didn’t move ANYWHERE. You quoted bridlewise’s post, but apparently didn’t read it? As bridlewise already stated (thank you!) she was never named to the team to begin with. Nor was Will ever named as individual and then “moved up.” The list that was linked to earlier was not in any order of rank or placement. It was just the definite entry (subsequently modified, per the schedule/rules for substitutions after the definite entry date–they are only allowed with veterinary/medical documentation after Aug 17). Teams/individuals didn’t even have to be named until the 23rd.
Perhaps the COTH is the source of the confusion, since they did incorrectly publish on the 16th. that Jan/Kim/Amy/Heidi “…were named to the team in July.” Haven’t seen this tidbit of misinfo elsewhere.
All other points aside, but InVA, what the heck is your problem with Karen? In every single thread that mentions her, you always have something unkind (and that’s putting it nicely) to say. It’s very obvious that you don’t like her, but the constant negative remarks are getting a bit old.
And it wasn’t Woody at Jersey Fresh either.

I have to agree with KellyS. Since Karen never got any penalties reversed at a registered event, hence her elimination at Gatcombe, that reference really seems rather childish. And, InVA, when YOU have the experience, ability, mileage, technical and physical prowess that Karen possesses, and when YOU are in front of the selectors for your shot at a squad position, and when YOU have a rare mistake, maybe they will also take your reputation into consideration and give YOU the benefit of the doubt.
The USEA site has a recent article by CMP - which gives a little of the “moment to moment” replay that we are all thirsting for.
It sounds like the travelling is taking it’s toll.
WA had an injury on the flight over, recovered from that and then had a bout of cellulitis. Joshua went down in the lorry on the way to the gallop - and came up lame. Task force slipped on the ramp while loading into the lorry and re-opened his pastern injury from Jersey Fresh.
I feel terrible for Joshua - what a terrifying thing to go through!

He says that the team spirit is excellent and they are ready!

shrapnel,
Why would you be so dissappointed in this team? Have they all not worked so very hard to get where they are? Does no one remember Will winning the AEC last year?? His results in Dressage were 26.30 on Antigua & 38.70 on Wild Frontier - not bad I would say. Not to mention, he is brilliant on XC - and went clear on SJ at Rolex AND Gatcombe. Yes, he is inconsistent - but wasn’t Karen, David, Bruce, even Capt Mark & loads of others inconsistent at his age?? Personally, I am impressed as hell, and I do not think Will has even scratched the surface…
All I know is, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who has more passion for this sport than Will Faudree - it is THAT type of passion that can only better this sport for everyone. The best thing we can do is put out positive & good Karma, whether our personal favorite was chosen or not. So, let’s support ALL the team, they may just pull off an upset and show the world the US is a contention to be dealt with…
Murphy, you stole the words right out of my mouth! Will deserves this spot on the team just as much as anyone else, and there isn’t a doubt in my mind that he’s about to prove it if anyone feels that he has not yet done so. The partnership he has with his horse brings tears to my eyes, and that connection does count for something…it counts for a LOT. I am absolutely thrilled to see Will & Brad named to the team and know the selectors will not regret their decision.
I’m sorry to see that you think we’re out of the medals, Shrapnel, but I’m with Murphy - I’m supporting the whole team, because whether or not you like it, it is OUR team, and I hardly think negative comments about something you, in reality, know precious little of, will be helping us now. It’s up to the 4 outstanding horse-and-rider combinations chosen to represent our country, and I know they will do anything but let us down.
Forgive the rambling…all I really mean to say is: GO WILL, and GO TEAM USA!!!

Laddy’s girl forever!
Laddiepony and Murphy1…let me post this again for those of us who didnt read it:
Ok…I am editing this because I did not know Jedi had reinjured himself in England. I also DO BELIEVE that every rider over there deserves to be there.
I also understand that Jan was never on the team to begin with, and that she and Jedi were only assured to go.
I am sorry, but I did not mean to direct any “negative” comments toward Will or any of the US Team members. That was just my reaction when I heard the Team announced. I was really reacting that way because Jan is a personal favorite, and I really wanted her to be on the team this year.
I want Team USA to bring back the gold just as much as anyone. And, I understand that this is the team, and am glad we have riders of their ability representing us.
On a more personal note, I really hope Jan and Jedi earn themselves an individual medal over there. They sure deserve it!!!
So excited about Woody!!! I hope he and Karen have a great run!!
Good luck USA! Bring us back some Gold!!!
Geez, maybe InVA knows something ya’ll don’t know! Frankly I agree with and am amused by him/her and think your adolescent idol worship is what is “immature” . HA! Anyway…good luck to the team! whoever they are! Back to my dreamworld now!
Idol worship…Hahahaha! That cracked me up! Anything but…
I don’t know how you can call any of us immature when InVA is the one making childish and incorrect (comment about Woody going at Jersey Fresh when he didn’t) remarks. Heck, all of us on here probably have riders we aren’t terribly fond of, but we don’t feel the need to make negative comments every time their name comes up!
Anyway, thanks for adding a bit of humor to my night…I’m still smiling.

…yeah, except for if its pat parelli or Darren Chiachia, right? Then I guess its ok for everyone to bash them.
I think we can both agree that it is a select few posters that seem to really dislike DC, but at least they are very open about WHY. Same for Mark Phillips–he has certainly stirred us heated discussions on the eventing forum, but that’s because people were responding to things he wrote or said. On the other hand, alluding to “things the rest of us don’t know” about Karen just seems a bit petty.
As to Parelli–I ain’t touching that one!
And, InVA, when YOU have the experience, ability, mileage, technical and physical prowess that Karen possesses,
How do you know she doesn’t?? Remember you NEVER know just WHO you are “talking” to on this BB. I do find this hero worship a bit bizzare though. But then again I look at them for what they are…riders…nothing more, nothing less.
It’s not always hero worship
I’m cheering for Karen because she’s a friend.
Shrapnel’s cheering for Karen because I told him he couldn’t come jump my xc jumps anymore unless he did.
Shrapnel’s also a friend–so let me say, hey Shrapnel, tear it up at Tryon! Wish I were there!
