The eyes are the biggest issue; he still can’t blink and I am having a very hard time treating them. They had talked about stitching them up but they didn’t think they could get him quiet enough for that without full sedation.

Is he having issues with BOTH eyes? Your post said paralysis on one side…oh my. So sorry you are dealing with this.

Well anything is possible but they’ve run a lot of bloodwork and nothing has come back abnormal. So probably not.

I am putting the lube in both eyes but I was watching today and he is blinking the right one so I think it is just precautionary. Thanks, i am a little freaked out about this cause he is horrible about the eye drops and I know how quickly eyes can go bad!

Thanks for asking. After conversations with a couple of other vets telling me this was definitely THO and that he could fully recover with THO surgery, I took him in for the CT scan planning on doing the surgery. The CT scan revealed a severe inner ear infection and significant abnormalities in that area. The surgeon could not guarantee that the facial paralysis would improve with surgery. I made the difficult decision to euthanize at that point. Still miss that boy, he was pretty special.
