I missed this the first time around, but reasons that I experienced that include 1) Previcox (known side effect, although rare), 2) ulcers (more likely in your case given feed issues), and 3) neck problems (according to my vet, this is one of the top 3 symptoms).
Saddle fit, have seen this happen a few times. New saddle and all of a sudden the spooks is gone.
This thread popped up in a search -I am having the same issues with my 11yo TB. His buddy died Aug of 22 and he is alone. Got ulcers, had some behavior issues but not spooking. Got the ulcers cleared up say early November 22 and had a good hunt season on him. But then in March 23 started this spooking. I had him checked by my vet and you never saw such a sound horse. He also checked his back-fine and rescoped him. The scope he said saw some irritation but no ulcers he recommended 1/4 tube of ulcerguard the day before and day of riding. I got slack about that, he did seem better, and forgot the ulcer guard Saturday. He spooked at nothing I could see and off I went. I got back on and rode. And rode the next day. He seemed a bit up but fine then apropos of nothing a spook-at least this time I didnāt fall off. Oh and the saddle fitter was out Friday and said the saddle was fine. He also saw the horse like in Sept 2022
Iāve had this horse since he was 4 and while I canāt say heās never spooked at anything it was a really rare experience and there was always something there to actually spook at. I hate spooking. Especially out of now here like this. Iām going to get his eyes checked tomorrow and a limes test too!!!
Any other ideas, experience, etc appreciated!!!

HuntināFool
Eyes are fine. Waiting for Lymes and EPM test.
