Suggestion for sling to trim mini with broken hip

This might be a short term situation where both mini and the trimmer need to change their usual form. A wood pallet with a plywood top. Let the bad leg hang over the drop/ open side. This should give the trimmer space to use a rasp without lifting or flexing the leg. It may not be their usual approach but sometimes even with our elderly full sized horses exceptions must be made to the usual routine

Thank you all for ideas. I am going ahead with a basket style sling off Amazon. The stall guard is to wide for the little monster. My issue is trimming the good back leg, he doesn’t want his full weight on the injured one long enough to trim it, this maybe a temporary issue as he continues to be more willing to pick up the good foot for hoof picking but we want him comfortable. Thank heavens he’s little, there’s so many more options to help.

Just wanted to provide an update. After purchasing a sling and lift, many sessions lifting him gently with towels and the sling strap, we were able to trim his feet without any of it! He’s been offering both hinds for hoof picking for the past few weeks and holding it longer so we gave it a try. A very kind and careful farrier later we’re on our way. Hopefully the tough little dude keeps on this track, it been quite the roller coaster year.

We lifted my 700lb mare with a stall mat that had 1000lb tow straps, they had loops on the end somehow, bolted in on all 4 corners, put longways under her and the loops on the bobcat scoop and it would lift her. Im sure a trip to tractor supply could get you everything you need.

Second thing, will he behave if lifted or freak out? 2 ppl using straps and just taking the weight off his back end while getting fed treats may be a better option. Look into moving straps, like moving company guys use to lift and move furniture. Good luck!!
