Summer is coming - breeches options??

After all the rave reviews I went ahead and ordered two pairs of the Ovation Aqua X breeches from Riding Warehouse (gotta take advantage of a sale right). One of them was on back order, but the other should be here at the end of this week. I’m pumped to try them out!

I hope you like them!

Will they provide as much…ahem…“back coverage” as the TS??

I really like the goode rider tights. they’re leggings with sticky strips so very comfy.

I must have belt loops and pockets…

They do. I don’t flash anyone while riding. And they have belt loops! I don’t like wearing tights for lessons because they seem a bit informal, but I do wear the Ovations Aqua X and feel good in them for lessons.

Yes, they have a more mid-rise fit.

I just tried the new ariat tri-factors. They are a little on the more expensive side at $150 retail but I am so in love! They boast a ‘cooling’ fabric like the icefil/coolblast sun shirts. They are supposed to cool you up to 5 degrees. I haven’t tested that yet as it’s cold, wet and rainy where I’m at lately, but I love them anyway! The fabric is really cold and is that kind of material that dust just swipes right off of. They are extremely flattering as well. They are stretchy and feel similar to my pipers, but I did have to go up a size. Ariat is always a small fit on me. They are also some of the only breeches (others being pipers and tailored) that fit my 5’3" height in the length. Big fan and totally recommend just for comfort alone!

Just saw these for the first time yesterday and was very intrigued…good to hear that you like them! I’ll have to look at getting a pair…

I’m going to have to try those too! My AquaX breeches came today, the navy fit perfect but for some reason the beige pair fit me completely different and are much tighter in the waist. Weird. Maybe I can exchange them for the Ariats if they have them in stock…I’m 5’2 so I’m glad they seem to fit shorties too

They are a little expensive, but I swear by the ForHorses brand. They are super light weight, you don’t get swamp butt, and they are machine washable and don’t fade like TS or TredStep. Tack N Rider in Wellington carries them, and if you are super lucky sometimes they show up for consignment at On Course!

I’ll definitely have to look into these ones. I love the Ariat sun shirts so I’m sure i’ll order a pair of these at some point as well. And I wonder where all my money goes…:lol:

I’m going to be down in Welly world this weekend so if I have time maybe I’ll run over and look at a pair of these. Or hope I can find some at On Course :congratulatory:

Had to revive this thread, I just bought two new pairs of fabulous summer breeches. My new favorite breeches are the Tredstep Solo Xtreme. They are super lightweight, they have a nice rise with no gaping, and they completely wick away and hide sweat - a major bonus for humid summer days! The second pair is just a little heavier weight but offers the same features is the Rompf Sarafina, love these too. Thought I’d update this if anyone is still shopping for summer breeches

Are those the newer Tredstep style? I really love the older pair of theirs I have for summer showing (Rosas, maybe?), lightweight but still with good coverage. You can find some good deals on those if you shop around, presumably because of the restyle.

Thanks for the heads up! I did try the Ovation ones and didn’t love them. I can see why people do b/c they are more of a technical material, but I felt like you could see every line and bump when I was wearing them. One of the reasons I really like the Pipers is b/c the material helps to smooth out all the details lol. I also tried the Hadley’s by Smartpak and had the same issue with them with the material being too “see through” for lack of a better term.

I’ll look into these Tredsteps though. I may just end up getting more Pipers in some of the lighter colors for the summer. I’ll just have to do the summer dance when trying to pull them back up after going to the little ladies room

@SugarCubes How would you describe the material of the Tredtsteps? Not to be too TMI but is it a visible panty line situation?

Thanks!!

I think the xtreme’s are the newest, but I’m not positive! Got them from Smartpak and noticed they also had Tredstep Solos on clearance for under $100 so I’d assume those were the “old” ones?

I hated the Ovations in Tan, felt like they showed EVERYTHING. The Tredsteps remind me of my TS breeches, but are much lighter-weight. I think they are very flattering!

I actually really like the fabric, it’s a lot softer and silkier than some of the summer breeches, especially the AquaX which are kind of stiff and don’t seem as breathable. I ride in Soma vanishing edge undies, which are great at hiding VPL, and didn’t have a problem in these breeches either

The Rompf’s are great too, but at the same price point, I think the Tredsteps are just a little more of a flattering fit.

I got a pair of the aqua x and while the fabric is definitely more Florida friendly, they are just barely tall enough in the back and I really really don’t like the silicone. Back to the drawing board for me

I agree, I feel like my Pipers will be too thick during this summer when the humidity soars, and I will be very sad to take a break from wearing them (they are so comfy)!

I personally love using my Aztec Diamond breeches and (especially) tights during the summer. They are thin and lightweight and breathable, and very cute! They are a bit expensive, though.

I also have a pair of Romfhs that I love, but they are quite as cool as the Aztec Diamonds (though are close).

Lastly, I use my Hurley capri (?) leggings a lot - not sure what they are called, but they are capri length and are running leggings. They are very cool and have a side zip pocket for my phone. They are also very flattering!
