Sunshirts - yay or nay?

I’ve been really happy with my SmartPak sunshirts - I got them on sale last fall for around $25 a piece. I also have a couple of Kastels and a Treadstep. I like the Kastel and Tredstep a little bit more than the SmartPak ones because they have more of a cuff (less tempting to roll the sleeves up!) and the mesh is less see-through, but they’re all pretty great in my experience. Makes it super easy to look put together with very minimal effort

I have zero intentions on buying equine-specific sun shirts. Sorry, IMO, a shirt’s a shirt. Breeches, sure those are specifically functional for riding. Shirts. are shirts. Got mine for $10 on Amazon, Hanes cooling shirts.

Dover has a sale on their Icefils right now, $40 for a normally $60 shirt. Going fast. FWIW

Thank you!!!

So I dont really need the “sun” part. I ride in the indoor when it is hot! (Cooler and less bugs!) But I do need cooling. Which shirts are best for this?

@mmeqcenter Thank you again for the neck wrap recommendation!

I had a lesson this morning and wore my omni-freeze zero long sleeve shirt (which if you live near a Columbia outlet, are on sale for $16) and the mission neck gaiter. My lesson went long-- riding for over 90 minutes. Yet I felt more comfortable than usual while riding and perfectly fine when done, instead of my usual exhaustion and migraine.

This thread has been so helpful… even if I haven’t bought any of the recommended sunshirts.

No problem, glad it helped you so much!

I too bought the Hanes sunshirts, and now it’s raining. :sigh::stuck_out_tongue:
