A point of clarificationā¦
What I illustrated above is not the Dichotomy Paradox - that was back on page 153. THAT paradox proves that you can never get anywhere. (Like the grocery store, for example, or perhaps the laundry machine
)
Because to get somewhere, first you have to get 1/2 of the way there.
And to get 1/2 of the way there, you first have to get 1/4 of the way there.
And to get 1/4 of the way there, you first have to get 1/8 of the way there.
And to get 1/8 of the way thereā¦
So you have an infinite number of steps in getting somewhere, but a finite amount of time in which to get there.
And THATās why you never manage to get anywhere!!
So thereās your excuse the next time you need to go out to dinner because you didnāt manage (once again) to get to the grocery store!!! :winkgrin:
