You:

  1. Use the underscore button, along with a <,\ and~:<_~
  2. do the same thing, except with // and \:___________//_\
  3. change the color of the underscore to white:

If your “Reply to Thread Editor” does not have all the text editing tools


There are two things I can think of


Your Editor may not be configured for the Enhanced interface in your “Chronicle Forums User Control Panel”.
-or-
Your web browser may not support the “Enhanced interface”.

To change Editor modes


  1. At the very top of the screen there is a blue bar, and on the left side of that there is link called “User CP”
 Click on the “User CP” link, and that should take you to the “User Control Panel” screen.

  2. On the left side of the " User Control Panel" screen
 under the “Control Panel” menu
 click on the “Edit Options” link.

  3. At the very bottom of the “Edit Options” page you should see a box called “Miscellaneous Options”.

  4. The “Miscellaneous Options” box contains the following text, and also drop down menu:

"When posting messages to the forums or other members, there are three interface types available to you. The simplest of these is a simple text box, while the last is a fully-fledged WYSIWYG editor, which allows you to format your text as you want it and see the results immediately.

Depending upon the capabilities of your web browser, you may not be able to use all of these options. If you experience problems when posting messages, try switching to a different interface type."

Message Editor Interface:
“Basic Editor - A simple Text Box”
“Standard Editor - Extra Formating Controls”
“Enhanced interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing”

The “Coth BB editor” will only allow you to have one “space” between any two characters of text.

If you make a text picture, and use the “space bar” on your keyboard to position the text in your picture. When you post your picture (or if you check your work with the “preview” button in the editor), all your positioning spaces will disappear and the picture will “scrunch up” on the left side of your screen.

The solution is to not use spaces to position your text
 but instead use the “Underscore” character.

Example:

___\o/<_~
____ /___ //\

This picture will not “scrunch up” on the left side of the screen because the “Underscore” character was used instead of spaces to hold the text in place.

But the “Underscore” characters are still visible.

The Coth BB text editor will allow you to change the color of text:
Red
Blue
Green
White <- this is “White” but you can’t see it because the background is also white.

Now lets try the picture again, but this time we’ll use the Coth BB text editor to change the color of any “unwanted” Underscores to White.

Hint: Because you “can” have one space between any two characters of text. You can use that one space (or another small character) to “fine tune” the position of your text.

Example:

\o/ <_~
