I just called Mad Barn. I’m waiting for a call back from one of their nutritionists.
Jiagulon …also Isoxuprine, Pentoxifylline, Acepromazine are vasodilators and will increase blood flow.
When my mare had acute laminitis i gave her Uckeles Laminox and Phytoquench
Ok, spoke to a nutritionist from Mad Barn.
She was great! She recommended the Jiaogulan like others here did.
She is also going to look at all of his supplements and feed to make sure he’s getting everything that he needs to heal that bone.
I’m going to try the Jiaogulan and see how it goes.
Keep the suggestions coming. I’m investigating all of them.
Tried LaminOx, Jiaogulan, and Isox and there was no noticeable difference from any of them (used on a horse who had coffin bone debridement surgery).
LaminaSaver was much, much better than Laminox for laminitis
Pain/healing.
Wish they divulged the ingredients because it worked.
Jiaogulan - I currently use it on my mare who had a mechanical founder caused by supporting limb laminitis last year. Her P3 did penetrate. I do feel it helped with circulation (thereby hoof growth) but did not get the venogram so have no way to prove it helped. Her x-rays showed really good hoof growth. My vet was surprised when he saw how much hoof growth she had in 6 months.
It’s my belief that being on Jiaogulan also kept her from foundering on her opposite hoof since she was very lame for months.
Thanks!
How is your mare now?
HorseTech’s OrthoPur SI is a liquid silicon product that’s much easier to feed than something like Osteon, and it can be useful for bone support.
What type of PEMF did you use? For issues in the foot, I’d go with a higher powered machine like Pulse or MagnaWave and not a low power product like Bemer, Assisi, etc. I do think PEMF helps with fractures (used it on my horse and myself).
I used my friend’s professional sized Magnawave.
She’s doing good. She will never be fully sound but is able to trot and gallop with the other horses.
