I felt the exact same way! I don’t know anyone in MD, but I wish you the best.
I loved eventing (still do), but I had the same concerns about my horse’s welfare. I was lucky in that he never got seriously injured, even competing through the CIC3* level, but I shudder thinking what could have happened.
I really like doing the jumpers, but the scene took a little getting used to. It’s a little more expensive (in general) and the “vibe” can be a bit different, but there are plenty of nice people who will be able to help you out along the way.
