Talk to me about MareStare

I am watching Mare Stare now; there is a mare getting ready to foal very soon.

I really like the setup that farm (Lazy G) has: they have two cameras set up, one on each end of the stall.

Nothing against mare stare but I would like to just put up video from my trainers to my home. He has cameras hard wired into his house and to his tv but that is all. Can someone explain how to get it online, how do you get an ip address? Do you still go thru the tv or do you use a dvr? Is there away to just ave camera online but not have to be on his tv all the time? Thanks! First foal was born yesterday, next due in March but I’d like to peek in on baby on the days I don’t get to the trainers.

You need a computer on the trainers side to get it going through the computer. Ours is either to our TV OR to the computer. There is probably a way to get a splitter in there to route it to both.

Once you get it to the computer you’ll need a system with either an IP set up (will come with the camera system) or you connect through marestare through their software.

We’ve bought some wireless IP cameras that we are going to try this foaling season. The images are transferred over our wireless network. The software that came with the camera also allows you to access the camera remotely over a private server. There was no extra cost for this service.

We are using d-link cameras.[/QUOTE]

That sounds ideal, can I ask where you got the camera from?

You can do a private cam on marestare. If you get the video onto the computer. Marestare will give you a private, unpublished link. So only those you give it to will be able to see. Its an option.
I did it one year so I could keep an eye on my girls from anywhere there was a computer.

We’re using the DLink DCS-932L. Bought them at Best Buy.
