Talk to me about riding when pregnant

I love that! Such a good name and story behind it.

You’re going to get a million opinions, but it boils down to:

  1. your personal choice
  2. your partner’s opinion
  3. your doctor and any medical conditions you may have with the pregnancy

I have two kiddos. By happenstance with my first, I didn’t ride at all while pregnant, simply because both of my horses happened to be hurt at the time. With my second child, I barrel raced into the 2nd trimester, pretty much until I couldn’t fit into my regular jeans anymore. But then we were coming into the off-season anyway so that timing worked out easy to quit riding.

And then there are people like Jackie Crawford who cut the horn off their western roping saddle so she can keep roping and prevent the horn from getting in the way of her growing 6-month pregnant belly
story here if you want to read it! To each their own!!

I rode (and drove, which was easier) when I was pregnant. As I got LARGER, and my center of gravity changed, I felt like my balance was altered and ended up doing a ton of work on the walk. Since I previously neglected working on a good walk, not a bad thing withal!
