Talk to me about Tropical Rider breeches

Depends.
I have a summerweight pair that I love, and a winterweight (fleece) pair that I do not particularly like.

I’ve been eyeing that sale, too, especially the Toasties Elements, I need a warm breech and I love the extended patch option. But the camel toe thing is a definite put off, lol!
Not sure about sizing, either, I’ve heard conflicting remarks…if I am a 26 or a small in most breeches, should I go for the S or M in toasties elements? And how low is their low rise? I hate the up-to-your-ribcage rise, but I don’t do low low rise, either…sigh

Thank you, it is amazing what you can learn on Coth.

I have 2 pairs of the EnduraCool with full seat. They are the only breeches I can stand to ride in during our humid summers. This was their 3rd summer and they have held up very well. I have just ordered a pair of Toasties w/full seat. I hope I like them as well. I would suggest that one get the darker, more forgiving colors if you have any poundage at all. Call them- they are excellent with telephone recommendations.
Does anybody have a pair in their chestnut color? I was wondering if it was a darker shade than what shows up on their color swatch?

I ordered 2 pairs on the Black Friday 50% off sale. One pair arrived yesterday and I loooove them. I ordered a large and probably could have orders a medium (prixtec clarion extended patch). Will ride in them tomorrow and see how I like them. Waiting for the toasties lite. I did phone to ask a few questions and the lady I spoke to was really quite lovely. This is the first time I’ve ordered breeches without trying them on first. Was worth taking the chance at those prices and with the return policy.

I have a couple of the winter toasties, and while they were warm, they did not hold up well. The inner thighs on one pair was see through, so I tossed those (see through and toasty rarely go together IME). I had a pair of the Nona Garson line that I loved the look of, but I’d gotten them on clearance, and seems the TR run pretty small, since they were too tight, I held on to them, in the packaging for a couple of years, but sold them, because I am not really unhappy at my current size, so don’t want to pretend to lose weight for one pair of breeches.

The winter tights were warm, I got no patch on one, but that stuff is SLICK! But they fit under my Mountain Horse insulated pants, and don’t slide in those. Extended, fake leather patch on the ones that wore out.

I have not been inspired to order again though…and I definitely don’t want a camera around if I’m wearing the tights.

I ordered two pairs on the Black Friday sale, and just received one pair in the mail on Saturday. Invoice was dated December 14th, and there is no indication that the others are following. I can’t get hold of them because the 800-number won’t work. Called my credit card company to see if they could get hold of them and find out what was happening and they say the number is not in service. I also sent them an urgent email but have yet to hear back. Does anybody know what the heck is happening with them?

Equine Studies, Sometimes it takes a while to get them. You get them more quickly if the color/size, type you ordered is in stock. I know I have seen something that says that items that have to be made(not in stock) may take longer to receive. Maybe when I have checked out is when I saw it. Pook, I have a pair in the chestnut color and it is darker than it looks in the color swatches on the web site. I have multiple pairs of TR’s in many different types. It is so hot here in Va in the summer, that I have an assortment of the Prix Tec and the Enduro cools with the extended patch. I do a lot of trail riding and even with going thru brush, they have been holding up for about 2-3 years. I have a pair of the Toasties Elements and I find them to run smaller than the other ones. I think it is something to do with the wind blocking feature of the fabric making it not as stretchy. I have 4 pairs of the regular toasties 3 with full seat and one with knee patches. I prefer the full seat ones in the winter. My toasties are at least 3 years old and all are going strong.

which is the lighter weight fabric- the EnduraCool or the Prix Tec?

EnduraCool is lighter, but also super stretchy. If you don’t like a breech that fits like a tight, you might prefer the Prix Tec. I love the Prix Tec fabric, but being “fluffy” they don’t fit me.

I ride in EnduraCools most of the year and Toasties from November til about March. (I live in Toronto.)

I love Tropical Riders and their service has always been excellent, even with Canadian orders that have to cross borders.

At your size go w/the Small, low rise.
Their regular rise is pretty high, low rise is not “pubic bone” low.

I personally love my winter weight ones, and wear them alla time in the barn- even when not riding they are nice and warm. They arent low. low. rise.

i think they just take forever to ship. i got mine in 2 seperate packages, with no indication there was a seperate package. i just got my first order on the 24th and 2nd on the 27th.

Mine took a long time to arrive, because they were not in stock.

But! It was worth the wait, for sure. LOVE them!

Just got my Toasties last week and I have worn them every day.Hate to even take them off when I am home. They do run a little big(what a pleasant change !) but I don’t care. I put on my fleece lined tights underneath for those days like today (16F), hike up my regular rise(keeps the tummy warm !!) and head out on the trail. Heck, this time of year, all anybody ever sees of my breeches is from lower thigh to knee - and sometimes not even that if I have a quarter sheet wrapped around me !! But I am TOASTIE and ride well when I am warm !

Regarding camel toe: my opinion is it is just another anti female ploy. god forbid anyone know a woman has a vagina. of course guys can walk around showing their package in their pants without censure but if a woman should have a wrinkle the world takes photos of it and make fun. Grow up people. wear slightly padded underwear if it bothers you so much. i would rather be comfortable and not have my pants crotch hanging halfway to my knees and imagine being a woman and having a “va jay jay” really? we have to resort to baby talk?

My second pair is on the way-took a bit of work to get it sorted out but I can’t wait to get them.

i agree and the baby talk is especially offending. Can’t we say vagina?
