Talk to me about your 3-horse bumper pull trailer

It’s a vertical tank so no room for water to slosh side to side. Excess tongue weight is far more desireable than a CG behind the axle. Weight distribution hitches and a sway bar add stability but nothing will compensate for a poorly designed trailer or improper loading.

Don’t try to steer your way out of a sway, you’ll only add more energy to the pendulum. Hold the wheel straight and steady and let off the gas. Brake ever so gently if you are going downhill.

My tow vehicle is my daily driver. I didn’t want to go any larger than a full size Tundra with large engine and factory tow package. So, when the time came to purchase a new trailer for my 14 h driving pony, we went with an all aluminum Exxis 17’ bumper pull. Tires and axles were upsized. Based on specs, I did not feel this truck could handle a 17’ (on floor) gooseneck. I have had no fish tailing, no trouble with braking or handling the hills of New England. I’m only hauling the one pony, his carriage and supplies. This combo is working well for us.
