Tall boot debacle …

I’m a big fan of the Dover Madison’s. They have held up well for ~6 months and felt very broken in. I got them sized at Dover and they helped me adjust for my right calf being a little tight.

I’ve always been an Ariat die hard as well but much to my frustration, they just don’t make tall boots in my size.

I’m a size 11/42 with medium height but wide calves. I ordered a pair of Tricolore’s (made by DeNiro) from my local tack shop and I love them. They were $700, so totally affordable, they fit great, and the leather is great quality - soft but durable (I’m a pro). They don’t have the foot bed of the Ariats, but really nothing does. 10/10 recommend!

ok the saga continues… i’ve never in my life has such a hard time having something fit me … this is so damn frustrating!!!

i bought the tuffrider belmonts… 8.5 wide… they came quickly and zipped right up easily … however at the top there is a ton of gap … see the photos… i have no idea how im supposed to account for or fix this… i dont remember this ever being a problem before in boot shopping but im guessing these don’t fit?

i took pictures of inside of my leg and elsewhere to show how well they fit (i think!) outside of that top gaping part

here they are with two pairs of socks

I think you probably need the regular versus the wide! I wasn’t kidding when I said I took the slimmest size and I don’t have Big Eq-slim calves, trust me.

Yes, I think those are definitely at least 1 calf size too big for you. I think anything too easy to get into is usually not the right fit! Good luck, I know it is tough!

I literally want to cry. I just took the 1 Hour Dr. to the one local tack store in our area and they had absolutely nothing. (which is the usual situation there, hence, the reason I’ve waited this long to go.)

i’m going to return the Belmonts, but I don’t know if I should even exchange them for a regular calf size because they fit my calf snuggly/nicely it’s just right under my knee where they are gaping so if I get a smaller size, they probably won’t even zip up over my ankle

I sound like such a whiny brat, but I feel like I’m literally going to have to buy custom boots. I have never had this much of a problem with tall boots. I don’t understand I’m starting to feel like a misshapen ogre

I’d try the regular calf size. If worse comes to worse, just send them back!

Honestly, tall boots are a nightmare–I’m 5’1, and there are literally only one or two boots that fit me. The limited sizing is ridiculous for something that’s literally a piece of sports equipment, like a helmet. I mean, boots that don’t fit are also a safety risk, and IMHO, paddock boots and half-chaps are a PIA.

The riding gods must’ve heard my pleas, because I went to a local consignment tax store that sells used stuff, which again I wasn’t too thrilled to do because I wanted new boots, even though they are a pain to break in, but lo and behold the first pair I just grabbed off the rack, fit me like a glove!!

Thinking at this point, I must be hallucinating and beside myself, I went and grabbed the owner of the store to have him check the fit, and he said they fit great. Not only that he said they are brand new, and a great price for the brand.

Don’t know what the brand is and don’t even care ATP. They look nice and will last me for now. my other pair(s) are at the cobbler currently. these are Moretta’s if anyone has heard of them.

Thank you, all for listening to me as a grown woman lol
