Tankless Hot Water Heater

Mozart, which unit do you have? Is it battery powered or plug in?

I lived in an apartment in HK that used them, propane and warm weather, and I LOVED it, and in Puerto Rico. The one in PR was electric and would blow a fuse if you used it for more than 8 minutes. That was 20 years ago, though… When I asked about it more recently, my plumber said my (NY) water was too hard and would clog it up quickly without a water softener. Just another thing to keep in mind.

We have a natural gas Rinnai tankless in our house, and it it phenomenal, but our neighbor has an electric (not sure of brand), and he doesn’t seem as pleased. We are in TN and it does get pretty cold here. That said, our tankless is on our heater/cooled basement, so weather is less likely a factor. We are in city water, not well.

My washrack is an outdoor washrack directly connected to outside barn wall. I’m in Virginia, a LOT less cold temps than you, so I understand if this doesn’t apply for you…but. the Eccotemp propane heater is one of my most favorite things! no hard wire. only turn on fuel when in use. I have a ‘cold hose’ into washrack that is separate. I have the heater with quick connects to drain easy in winter if not in use. I also? did purchase an electric heated hose…just for those scarey months when every thing freezes. this is on the quick connect into the heater, but will disconnect in freeze non using months, and still just have the hose / flowing water ability for buckets/all else. heater is amazing and works so perfectly!!! You? may also always be able to put one ‘outside’ barn, but connecting hoses coming from outside wall to inside washrack if that is your set up.
