Teams for the Paris Olympics

Most of us have no clue which rider is being referred to. But you apparently do because…?

Can’t help but think that you know who it is because you know said rider does what was described.

You are defending something indefensible. Rollkur type training practices and over-the-top bitting rigs, etc. are never defensible, no matter who the rider is, or the occasion, or the venue, or how much they are “admired” by others, or how “nice” they are to volunteers, fellow riders, staff, and the general public…

Think we should let this one go guys and move back to the topic  I took it to PMs, and we can sort it out there. I am not specifically calling anyone out anyways - I have my opinions and everyone is entitled to their own and no one needs to believe mine. I just said do your own research and cheer for who you want based on what you think is right.

One more day!! Was gutted to see Tamie’s announcement but hopefully she can gear up to win something big again in the fall.

FWIW, I have no idea which rider these comments are about. So the posts are vague enough for a public message board (and presumably those “in the know” already have their minds made up)

After the news about Mai Baum, I’m wondering how Chin Tonic is doing.

but with CT, he has two or three others in the pipeline!

We should have our team soon. Today is allegedly the day!

I heard on a podcast (can’t remember which one exactly), Will stated Chin Tonic will not be ready for Paris.

Per this article, he will not be available for Paris but should be back out and beautiful before too long.

While Chin Tonic HS is currently sidelined due to a hyperextension of his knee, it’s expected he will be back in full action for the 2025 season.

This was my team pick although admittedly I had Boyd and wills other horses. My question is, no direct reserves listed for these riders? What are we doing if horses are injured in the lead up?

My guess is those two are brand new. Federman has at least been at a couple of big events. And he has always done well. Commando looks very promiscing, but federman isn’t a young horse, Commando is. Plenty of time for him.

Also, looking at Boyd’s TikTok he makes it sound like commando is a direct reserve for him. Perhaps they just haven’t shared that yet.

I figured both of them would be the direct reserves. This is so exciting! Good for Caroline too!

Very nice hat tip to the horse’s previous rider.

Great team… the right team for the course that’s expected.

It had to have been incredibly tight between Caroline & Liz but, as I’ve mentioned previously, Caroline has quite literally earned this spot based on the the selection criteria. I have a feeling her team performance at Millstreet this past weekend on King’s Espacial split the hairs.

I’m really excited to see this team in Paris and I think the competition format & XC course are perfectly tailored to the crew we’ve selected. They’re all great on twisty courses with a clear record of making time on courses that require adjustability, they do a good enough dressage, and the tend to almost always jump clear (a huge deal at the Olympics).

We probably won’t be leading after the dressage, but we’ll be in a very strong position for a medal. The selectors did a good job at ignoring the POSSIBILITY of gold in favor of the PROBABILITY of silver or bronze.

FYI: Boyd & Will both have direct reserves (Commando & Diabolo, respectively).

ETA: and a very MARKETABLE team. There are some incredible stories & personalities to work with here. Tamie and Mai Baum are definitely missed, but it’s a great group that deserves it.

Boyd always remembers Annie, her memory has been a big part of his journey with the horse https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/behind-the-stall-door-with-fedarman-b/

I can only imagine how thrilled and emotional Annie’s family and friends must be today!!

Congratulations to a solid team. I’m sure it is tough for Liz to be the alternate, but the results HSH Blake has put up are impressive. It is going to be fun to watch.

Had to be hard to be a US selector this year, but I think they delivered what I personally was hoping for - a team that has strong potential to finish well as a team.

I did find it interesting that there was no mention of Lauren and Bug as an alternate. I wonder if they withdrew from consideration - and if so, if it was a vet issue or possibly just not wanting to follow the alternate playbook.
