Tell me about Barnsby Dressage Saddles

I’ve had my Barnsby Crown Special (Canada only) for several years and I LOVE it. The wide fit and half-points make it fit anything except a super thin horse, high or low withers are fine, barrels are fine, WB, etc no problem. The fact that it has a very wide channel, wide panels, the slightly scooped-back curve and the half-points give you a lot more fit leeway than saddles with full points.

I like a wider twist (too narrow feels like I’m sitting on a 2x4!) and have no problem with the flap length despite being only 5’4". Leather is excellent quality, mine is probably over 10 yrs old and its only damage is a bit of under-boot wear on the flaps. It’s a nice walnut-brown which is a bit different, I found a girth that matches it. I’d happily buy another Barnsby any day, but haven’t found quite as good a deal yet, mine was under 1K.

Barnsby saddle

I have an AVG Barnsby saddle. I LOVED it. I had Schleese put an adjustable tree in it. But…then I bought a new horse and his saddle came with him. I have the AVG for sale. BUT…the condition is great. It is very comfortable and I didn’t find the twist to be wide. The saddles are very well made!

I have a Barnsby and it is the best saddle I own (out of 5 damned expensive ones).
It puts the KN to shame in terms of the quality of leather and also the position it puts me in. I can’t actually remember what style mine is by we bought it new just over a year ago. It is a #5 and goes on my barrel on legs WB. The quality of the workmanship is great, and as I previously said, the leather is super soft and feels divine after a good wash/oil. The seat on mine is also quite “sticky” so when you are wearing sticky bums, you really are stuck

As an aside, back when I was a wee tacker, my mother SWAPPED a Barnsby for a car (and a reasonably nice jobby at that!). They sure do hold their value

I have a Barnsby Raven that must be every bit of 20 yrs old, and in great shape (though the seat has been restitched) and I love it love it.

I have the Luxus and I love it. The only possible complaint I could make is it seems quite heavy to me compared to some other brands of saddle. My horse seems to like it also.
