About the AG GAG legislation:

http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2012/03/five-states-now-have-ag-gag-laws-on-the-books/

Iowa and Utah enacted new laws, while ag-gag bills were killed in Florida, Illinois and Indiana. Ag-gag bills remain pending in Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York and Tennessee.[/QUOTE]

I think that legislation was tabled in TN this year.

the ford page is filling up

Someone posted thanking Ford for pulling the sponsorship-true?

I put a message on FORDs wall too.

.

She pulled it. Damn I was hoping they had actually done it!

.

Just keep spamming.
Just keep spamming.
Just keep spamming.

They only way to stop the Big Lick is to bankrupt the National Celebration by pressuring their sponsors to pull out. No money, no show, no big lick!

The post is gone now… dang I had hoped…

Another question: if the HPA is a federal statute which prohibits the transportation and showing of sore horses, is there some way it can be ammended to allow seizure of trucks and trailers used for that purrpose? That would be a major expense and/or inconvenience for anyone who got busted, and would probably make commercial shippers avoid TWH shows.

Many problems could result from a law allowing this. There are too many accounts of abuses by HS groups and the HSUS. Imagine if you were actually transporting a horse to a vet “as it was injured and sore” and they pulled you over.

They could take your horse, trailer, truck and as we have discovered in the past, they take you to court. Meanwhile, they charge outrageous board for the truck and trailer and also the horse. After many thousands of dollars you might get everything back…

Rather than create new laws open to interpretation that could negatively impact everyone in any breed, how about if the Walking Horse Association was to put pressure on HSUS to PAY qualified inspectors for EVERY show.

That would have more impact than new laws OR perhaps there should be an extra fee for TWH entries at a show to pay for inspections.

Way to go, EVERYBODY, keep it up! Empires can be toppled by a Tweet these days . . .

Cyberriders, form line, CHARGE!!!

I received a response from Ford to my email. Very nicely worded and polite, from “AL” in customer service.

He writes that it is not Ford per se that is the sponsor of the Walking Horse Celebration, but the “Mid-South Ford DEALERS
Association”.

I responded to “Al” that Ford’s name (unfortunately for Ford) is nonetheless, connected with The WHC, so that perhaps Ford should have a discussion with their dealers (because they are not only dealing with nutjob animal rights activists, but with the ire of equestrians who keep and show horses in many disciplines).

They’ve left my facebook post up for over an hour now, I c/p’ed it because I figured I would have to repost it a few times so maybe that is some progress.

I really think they’ll pull out–too many upstanding horse owners are driving Fords. I did write and tell them they didn’t want to tick off the good horse owners in order to align themselves with a few abusive ones!

Point well taken, Fairfax. Thanks for posting another point of view.

I just spoke with a Ford Dealership and he told me the only way it will have any impact is if customers who are regular Ford purchasers go to their dealership and tell them they are not going to purchase from them and the reason.

He told me that Ford (and all makers of vehicles) are on the receiving end of the boycott of the month regarding concerns from vegetarians (selling trucks to pull trailers that haul cattle to auction)…Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (for selling trucks to native youth when they get their first First Nations cheque) and so on.

He said the calls to the BOD are generally screened out and transferred to the P.R. division.

It would take in excess of 100,000 emails and calls PER WEEK.for two or three months…where it would start to gain momentum and media attention before they would even acknowledge it.

I called a U.S. Ford dealership for this information.

Well I am that person-our family has had nearly 25 Fords over the last 40 years in some way or form. In my letter I listed the vehicles and I also told them if they didn’t pull their sponsorship I wouldn’t be able to look at my truck then look my TWH in the eye and that is true.

It takes two seconds to write an email or make a quick statement, I don’t see any reason to be discouraging about it.

But I think this is very different in that nobody is asking Ford to NOT SELL their trucks to anybody, just to stop sponsoring an event. That’s a whole different ballgame in my opinion and if Pepsi pulled out so quickly (and I’m sure they face their share of boycotts for crazy reasons) then I see no reason Ford would even hesitate. It takes 5 seconds to post on their FB wall or write an email, and it can’t hurt to try.

Just saw on the FOSH FB page that the local Ford group AND Frito Lay have pulled their sponsorships (this was posted 8 hours ago). I asked them where they got their info to confirm this, hopefully it’s true!

This was the coughbscough response I got from Ford in response

"Thank you for writing.

At Ford we value diversity among all of our constituents and pride ourselves on strong and clear values - respect for our customers, communities, employees, suppliers and dealers; acceptance of our differences; inclusion of different people with different perspectives; and integrity to always do the right thing. We value all people - regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and cultural or physical differences. This is a strong commitment we intend to carry forward with no exception. We are pleased to clear up any misperceptions and get back to doing what we do best - building the best cars and trucks in America."

Sooooo, it’s ok to abuse horses because people are different? wtf
