Wanted to share I recently spoke with someone very active in the Morgan saddleseat show industry about how they have viewed these TWH events.
SHe knew little to nothing about it.
But she did go on to say that the Morgan saddleseat folks are really becoming more permissive with the use of action devices, tail sets, gingerng, house slippers, stretchies chains, built up shoes, etc., etc. Stating that only the “classic” Morgan type classes are sticking with the old rules that used to forbid these action devices for all Morgans.
Slippery slope was my comment.

Last week’s electronic newsletter from the AMHA had something noting that with all the attention the BL issue is getting, USDA inspectors are likely to start showing up at any saddleseat events, and that Morgan exhibitors should “be prepared.” I am not too comfortable with what that probably means.
Even in the Morgan Hunter Pleasure classes, long toes and padded/heavy shoes are becoming the norm… and it’s starting to trickle into Morgan Western Pleasure, too :eek: The saddleseat divisions are tiny and getting tinier because you basically can’t compete without some heavy-duty training and “aiding”… which costs serious money, and is morally questionable to a lot of horse owners.
OTOH this entry in a Morgan show blog encourages Morgan people to lead the way in more humane showing by immediately banning ginger and tail-nicking.
I hope the latter view prevails.
