There is no way to judge how soon a mare’s pH will drop but could easily be a couple of weeks. Check it daily until it gets into the low 7’s then check twice per day until it gets to 6.2

I order off amazon lab test strips. Pool ones are not accurate enough. There are several recent studies that show the PH is all that’s needed, don’t bother to test calcium. You also don’t need to dilute the milk, just squirt one drop right onto the strip. This has been reliable for me for the past several years. You have to test at least 3 times/ day as you’re getting close though, that final drop can happen over 6 hours sometimes.
