The first business casualty of the virus: Triple Crown Custom

Oh wow sad to hear this. I figured it they would wind up coming back since they are owned by Horsewear.

We should all make an effort to support the small tack shops. Call them and order directly. I bought a pair of boots a few weeks ago from The Farm House. Every order is an order they didn’t have. Order from the small ones. Dover and Smarkpak will survive.

I wonder if the Mods would let us list our favorite smaller tack shops with online presences so we can all shop? I don’t want to run afoul of the advertising rules but it seems like it would be a good thing during these times. @Moderator 1?

So sad to hear. I saw on their site they were closed temporarily during COVID. sad it is final. :frowning:

I went to my local (to me) tack store last Friday instead of ordering online (which I love). I also love going and putting my hands on things, I love the smell. They have taken such a hit I’m glad to be able to run up.

The way I understand the no advertising policy is that you can not come start a post about your product/store but we are free to say “hey I like this store” in any thread.

I wish there was a way to know which businesses especially needed our help. With Triple Crown, I had no idea they were circling the drain, I would have subjected some horses to some serious dress-up had I known.

Triple Crown is a beloved name to me, almost symbolic of my childhood, but of all the companies at risk of going under during this I would not have put there’s at High? They are a custom, high-end, horse-wear outfit with an online shop that can take orders internationally any time day or night; not a tack shop that relies on local foot traffic. This reads more like Horseware Ireland wanting to step away from custom products and Covid providing an easy way out. What a shame. I will cherish my ears-to-tail 100% wool cooler in a garish bright turquoise that I BEGGED for even more fervently now.

What a shame…They had off the rack blankets etc too for years. One of the best.

Hoping The Clothes Horse is hanging in there!! Another company with great quality…

I agree the Clothes Horse is terrific. I’ve been ordering from them for my trainer’s set up. It’s good for her and good for them right now.

I also ordered from Blue Ribbon blankets this month and they are truly wonderful to work with. And a bit less expensive.

The local tack store sells a lot of clothing, really nice stuff. I went in for a $5 sponge, and was shocked to see racks and racks of beautiful winter jackets. Puffer coats and vests, V-neck sweaters, a wall full of tan TS show breeches. It’s like the virus hit and they were frozen in time.

I bought a $240 jacket for $99. It was 82 degrees. They’ll never sell that inventory.
