The National Non-Horse (Bullriding) Show

Bethe - there are reports on the dressage tests on the Dressage board. It was the World Cup League Finals.

Kryswyn - I’ve been going to WIHS for years and have never seen fewer than 4 dressage tests per night. Loved the JRT races, of course, especially the one who was going to get him/herself wound up on the reel for refusing to let go of the fox tail.

Maz - I believe the Marlboro Man truly did die of lung cancer. I read it in People mag, it must be true.

I like bull riding and I watch it on TV most Sunday nights. I don’t like it in the middle of an indoor horse show, but if there is some chance it might bring more interest and involvement to our English horse sports it may not be a totally bad thing.

Attend the Maclay finals because it’s always a hell of a show!

How about the Hunter folk being bumped by the bulls? They gotta feel like a million, particularly when the Hunter Classic was such a success last year, and everyone thought they were going to build on last year.

Jumpcrew’s posts need correction. On various posts, jumpcrew wrote:

How about the Hunter folk being bumped by the bulls? . . . . Now we give medals to some redneck for abusing a bull with gigantic spurs.”

Actually, jumpcrew, Sat eve also features Western Reining, which is equestrian’s newest international discipline. That most certainly IS a horse sport. The world doesn’t revolve around English riding. The bulls did NOT “bump” the Hunter folk – the decision to cancel the hunters was made first, then to fill the gap they decided to bring in the bulls. Please refrain from calling cowboys “rednecks” – hunter jumpers don’t need to enhance our snotty image.

Just because western events provide no jumps for jumpcrew to set doesn’t mean they don’t belong at the National Horse Show. It ain’t called the “National ENGLISH Horse Show,” and may as well reflect some other American riding disciplines.

Well now - what a prime opportunity to enlighten those poor misguided rednecks and show them that us pancake riders aren’t a bunch of elitist snobs!

AMEN to that. The kids who qualified deserve a great turn out!!!
