Thanks all. I got a bid for the arena, it’s interesting but likely out of the budget.
Well, I am on the other side of the country but we are currently having our wettest year since 1948 so I will echo the posters urging you to really think about/plan for/spend money on drainage. My arena is in the back corner of my property which is a relatively low part of the farm, but the arena itself is raised and surrounded by drainage so it’s not a problem. We have had over 70" of rain this year (normal is ~35-ish) and even when we’ve had downpour after downpour, the ring is generally rideable pretty quickly; certainly no later than the next day and often much faster.
I did spend the money to have a contractor do the work and it was a big splurge for sure. But this is my forever place and I really wanted something that would work year round. Next year, I will put a cover on it most likely, but for now, I am super pleased with it. You can see the process we went through on the blog I kept during construction - https://hedgerow-farm.com/
Good luck with your project!
Can you give us a ballpark for your quote and what was included?
Can you please tell me the name of your guy on the peninsula? Thanks!
