The Triple Crown Races 2019

Such a shame for maximum security and his connections. Don’t agree with that call at all

I think $$$ was involved cause he wasn’t the favorite. The trainer of Country House is a POS sore loser. I hope the trainer of Max sues.

Who would he sue? (Honest question—I don’t know the ins and out of racing.)

Very disappointed that the stewards overturned this. Yes, he spooked a bit, but Country House did not seem to be affected. Poorly done!

I can’t believe this call. I won’t be watching the rest of the races. That objection was nothing but sour grapes and they ended up with a stolen win.

Sorry but that’s a totally BS call.
Country House was not impeded at all, by Maximum Security. There’s no way he would have won.

I think Long Range Toddy would have finished a lot better if this hadn’t happened.

I had a bad feeling in the minutes before this race. I thought it was a hunch that someone would get hurt.

And so they have, but not physically.

What a crap decision.

I remember when Dancer’s Image got disqualified but as they are saying today that was a whole different thing. This just sucks.

Wow.

Just wow.

Very much my thoughts too, @rollingabout. Very bad sportsmanship.

You put my feelings into words I couldn’t. Now that it’s sinking in, I’m so effing pissed, what a BS call. Sour grapes indeed. BM sure made a show to the media about how terrified he was for everyone’s safety.

The crowd seems to agree…

For those decrying the disqualification of Maximum Security, how would you have felt if War of Wills hadn’t managed to contort himself enough to avoid clipping heels and had gone down?

And Dancer’s Image’s wikipedia page has already been updated…

I thought War of Will was very clever with his stride during the final turn. I don’t know the rules for objections…it didn’t look to me like Country House was terribly impacted. War of Will more so - did the Stewards factor in War of Will, even though they didn’t file the objection? I’m so heartbroken for Maximum Security’s connections. Young horses racing - it wasn’t an manoeuvre made with evil intent. I guess that’s racing?

WTFruit bat did I just watch??! IDK what to think…

Wonder why War of Wills’ ppl didn’t file an objection…?

Yeah- it does seem like a case of sour grapes. In the replay you can see that the other horses were hindered but at the same time, how can one know that CH would’ve won had that not happened? I ask these questions as someone who watches the derby but admittedly knows very little about racing and would like to know more.

As as an aside- I liked both horses but winning due to a questionable DQ leaves a bad taste in my mouth

Agree it’s an incomprehensible & BS call. When is it illegal to spook anyway? Plus what was said about Country House receiving a boost, not impediment.
At 65 to 1, hmmm … someone just made a boatload o’ bucks. :uhoh:

I’m meeting friends out for dinner so I shut the TV off as soon as the race and that I didn’t watch all the post-race hoopla I was so sick and tired of all of the pre-race hoopla so I won’t get to see the replay till I get home but it sounds like it was a bad thing I’m pretty disgusted with it too I’m disgusted with the whole way they do it I’m just not a fan of racing anymore and I know they’re doing it for the money but they drag it all out to go on and on and on until it’s like just run the Damn Race and get it over with and now wait for another whole year

Did Mott lodge the objection, or the stewards?
Mott’s a pretty classy guy all round, but why would you want to win a Derby like this? You were beaten fair and square.
