The Two Week Wait Thread!!

We’re now counting days on Papillon (Ariadus-Cheenook) to Harley VDL and Pik’s Pandora (Pik Solo-Gigant) to Blue Hors Romanov. It’s going to be a long 14 days

Had final pregnancy checks today and we are finished for 2011! Seven out of nine mares in foal. Big thanks to Elizabeth Callahan for being persistent in her attempts to get our mares in foal. It was not an easy year.

For 2012 we hope to welcome:

Diamond Hit/Rubinstein/Argentinus
Fuerstenball/Espri/Lemon
Royal Classic/Donnerhall/Pik Bube
Roubiax/Fidertanz/Harvard (Test breeding)
Floriscount/Licotus/Quo Vadis
San Amour/Harvard/Akzent II
Sir Gregory/Dormello/Rubinstein

Best of luck to those still trying.

Hidden Acres - the semen is not really expensive - just $1000 per dose at SES.
I am looking forward to pictures next year of some beautifully bred foals.
Congrats to all, with their breeding season complete.
And fingers crossed for the rest (me included - 3 to go) who are waiting on breeding or results.[/QUOTE]

Not expensive at all cause she sold it at cost this year since there weren’t a lot of confirmed pregnancies.

My breeding season had such a bad start I could write a book about it. I guess every single thing that could go wrong was there. Semen shipped late, missing doses, bad doses (received all stick together) hydro shortage just as we tought the mare might have ovulate, mare got sick at a repro clinic and didn’t make it (Potomac) and so on.

And I had no babies to show since last year was as bad but for different reason; the only only one who caught slipped it but I had closed my season early June.

So I could have call it my annus horribilis but persistence, persistence, persistence is the name of the game I guess.

I manage to have 3 mares out of 4 in foal. My Indoctro mare was 15 days checked in foal yesterday to Contendro I . I still have one mare to go and I’m done.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mare to Potomac Fever, Suzanne, and the rest of your trials. I look forward to seeing your Contendro I foal!

Suzanne - I feel for you. What a tough couple of years. I hope you’ll be delighted with your Contendro baby. (I love mine - an 8 year oild now).
Best wishes that all three mares hold and produce great foals next spring.

EM Donnabella (Donnershlag/Baryshnikov) checked in foal to Rubignon today…whew! After three frozen attempts I was getting worried.

So, I have three out of four in foal and I am done for the year!
EMC Anaconda G (Acord II/Saros) to Baroncelli and Fleur Noire (Fabuleux/Davignon) to Liberty Gold.

After loosing her pregnancy and a HORRIBLE colic, I am thrilled my sweet Bel Etrice is still alive. Thinking about an embryo transfer from her next year.

Hey Sandy - glad the big effort paid off in 3 pregnancies. I did not know about Bel Etrice’s colic, and I’m happy she has recovered. You must be so relieved.

Sandy, you have had a heck of a year. It’s all uphil now… just think about all those beautiful foals romping in your pastures next year. And… what a line up of sires being represented!

Michigan is going nto have a great selection of foals next year for purchasers. Remember “imported from Michigan”

I have ponies but I am waiting on:

Native Watters (TB) bred to Pengwyn for a large pony hunter.

Bendith Artemis (Cloe Olympian x Dixie Blue Jean) is being bred tomorrow to Crossgates Larasan.

Fingers crossed!

Ok, I’m feeling a bit discouraged now.
Ditana just came up empty on 2nd attempt with frozen (my last dose of Quaterback, and (especially painful as there is no more to purchase), my last dose of Rhodes Scholar:(:(). She has a couple 40x44 follicles, plus edema, and I can’t get a trailer today to ship her to Guelph (repro-vet), so I’m going to try one last time this season with AI (I have wanted to breed to Wolkentanz II - and Nancy and Kathleen can make it happen overnight, thank goodness). My repro-vet says there is no “reason” for these 2 flops, as Di is clean and healthy.
Espinette was ultrasounded today at day 14/15 PO - – with nothing. 3rd attempt this year, after 2 failures last year. Vet will recheck her on day 17 to see what’s what, and we’ll set some plan in motion then.
Contessa came back from her 2nd sojourn at Guelph, last week. “Good breeding” I am told, and I will know in 9 days whether she is pregnant.
Discouraging … but I know I’ve been fortunate with my 3 this year - from Sir Donnerhall, Belissimo and Quaterback. The Diamond Hit filly sold in -utero with her mom SPS Rothara is also very good - - and is being retained by her owner for her breeding program. That makes me very happy.

Sorry to hear about your breeding woes Kathleen. I do have a dose of Quaterback at stored at Rideauwood Farms that I don’t need anymore, if you want it. I also think W II will be a great cross, love those W boys! Keeping my fingers crosse for Contessa.
Cheers,
Sara

Thanks Sara. I’m going to try one last time this season for ditana, fresh, and if that doesn’t work, give her the year off.
Still not sure if I try again with Ellie this year. Her contract will expire (did not catch last year), so this would be my last chance to use the contract without repaying full fee.
She has been biopsied, cultured, lavaged, flushed, needled, oxytized, probed and poked and ultrasounded to death this year.:stuck_out_tongue:

She did it!!!

SPS Weltana is in foal to Escudo 1!!! am sooooooo happy! another u/s on Weds to check for some more growth as we think she ovulated late and make sure there is not another baby hiding as she triple ovulated!

Sorry to hear of your woes, Kathleen. Some years are just crappy! I am waiting to hear whether Never Say Never, keur pref. caught with Banderas (2nd attempt). Everything looked good, but, she’s getting older and harder to catch. Missed the ovulation of Rhumba, (Idocus x Wanroij), my one mare who has almost silent heats, so will try her for the first time next week.

So far, only one pregnancy, but a special one - Bosanova (Ferro x Wanroij) in foal to Totilas!

Well Martha - that’s the one to have, if you are having only one!
I hope things work also for Never Say Never and Rhumba. Fingers crossed.

Bossanova and Totilas!!! Wow congratulations Martha.

We have to keep faith as the breeding season might be getting late but is not finish.

Back in the wait with two more mares. June was just rebred to Quinar. Kudos to my husband who drove to the Denver airport to pick up semen on a Sunday night. Negative kudos to the mare who couldn’t ovulate on say, a Wednesday.

Rilory (Calvados x Ekstein) was bred to Contendor (Calypso II x Graphit) last week. I wasn’t planning on breeding her this year but sometimes things change.

I think I’m done. If June comes up open I really hate to leave her that way but it is getting so late in the year and it has been an expensive breeding season for me.

Well done, Martha!
