Rechecking SPS Wega today, did not find an embryo at 13 daysā¦will try one more time with her as well if she still looks open today.
Northill - I feel for you. It is so depressing getting the ānadaā news - especially when it is for tyhe 2nd, 3rd, 4th time.
I had positive news today - SPS Ditana is in foal to Wolkentanz II (3rd breeding this year, all different sires).
Still 10 days to hear about my 4th try with Espinette. Finished, regardless.

Fingers crossed for you on Espinette! The broodie I sold but is with me until her filly weans came up empty for the second try this year, both to different stallions, both frozen tries. Might be time to try fresh, I think this heat is killing her.

Wolkentanz II x SPS Ditana should be awesome! Let me know if that one ends up being a filly as I have sort of had my eye out for a very good Wolkentanz II filly to add to my broodmare band. Fingers firmly crossed for Espinette!

Finally, some good news to report after three tries of a repeat breeding of Never Say Never, keur pref. to Banderas. She is pregnant! This will be a full sibling of Faust NSN, who sold as a stallion prospect.
Rhumba, her daughter by Idocus, was also confirmed in foal to Sir Gregory.
She was only bred once this year. We missed a previous ovulation after her foal heat. This will be a full sibling of Gauguin NSN.
And my Totilas x Ferro fetus was sexed. Itās a filly!
Iām done for the year. YAY!!!

Prelude was bred yesterday ā¦ three folicules!!! To Indoctroā¦ my plan was to Plot Blue but didnāt work. This is embryo tranfer so I am waiting. She should be flushed next Friday.
Well, Iām a little blue today. Espinette is not pregnant, after 4 tries this year (and 2 unsuccessful last year).
We pulled out all the stops, and the SO was, as always, helpful and encouraging, but Ellie has me and the vets stymied.
I know, sometimes it just happens this way, but disappointing nonetheless.
Best to just focus on the coming foals for 2012, and hi ope for safe landings.

Wow, thatās really crummy about Espinette. Nevertheless, itt sounds like you have a really exciting lineup coming next year. I am particularly excited to see the Wolkentanz II and Romanov foals.
Congrats to everyone with foals on the way! I have another newbie question! So my mare had her 30 day check and we have a heartbeat, today she is exactly 45 days and my question is so what now, do I need to ultra sound her again later to make sure she is still going strong or is it just a wait and see thing? I seriously donāt think I can just wait and see, I will go nuts, lol! I asked my vet about sexing the foal but she said that they didnāt have the kind of sonogram that was needed for that, that it was specific equipment. I have her dates for shots and all that already on the calander but I am already nervous and I still have a year!!!

Dressagedevon - - I can understand your excitement - and 11 months is a long wait!
However, unless you have reason to suspect a miscarriage, there is really no reason to continue doing pregnancy checks, as it is unlikely that you could rebreed this year, if she were to be found open.
So, just dream big, and keep your mare happy and well-nourished, so that she is in good shape come foaling time.

Arenāt you over here in the panhandle? If so, and you can take your mare to Todd Anderson at Panhandle Vet in Chipley FL he can do the fetal sexing for you. Needs to be done around day 60 - 65 and he has been correct on all of my mares since 2008. As for equipment it is the same ultrasound machine that he uses for the regular appointments, BUT he specializes in this, and knows what he is looking forā¦ perhaps your vet is just not comfortable with it?
As for when I check, after the heart beat I fetal sex around day 60 ish, and that is it unless I have a problem or a suspicion of something wrong. If I wasnāt fetal sexing I wouldnāt check again after 30 days/heart beat but there are many who advocate to check again at 60 - 90 days. I just figure if Iām going to check again I want to know the sex. (plus it is pretty cool to see the little baby in there moving around and all).
Happy to report that Cora has healthy little heartbeat at 40 days!!
Also glad to hear that the other two mares bred to my stallion also are pregnant and progressing nicely!
