Things you learn from a TD--half chaps, jodphur boots, paddock boots and other cool things

Does anyone know about how you should wear your shirt collar when jackets are waived? There is a conversation going on a FB group and some have had TD’s tell them they must have the collar unbuttoned if jackets are waived, and riders have been told to unbutton their shirt before entering the ring. There seems to be consensus that you remove the stock/neck tie, per the rules, but do you leave the shirt buttoned and the collar up, or unbuttoned and turned down? Does it matter if it is an “integrated collar” style?

no neckwear, so collars should be “open”

Yes, as above. The idea is that it is too hot to wear a jacket, so you want the collar open so you don’t overheat.

Test movements may be read twice, but you cannot go backwards in the test and read a movement prior to the last movement read.

This one bit me in my first year showing dressage. My coach skipped 3-4 movements and had to keep quiet and hope I remembered the movements until I caught up. I did, but I haven’t much bothered with readers since even when I had two horse showing at different levels and had all three tests at each level, plus a Kur for one of them memorized.
