Thinline - Full Sheepskin or Cotton Half Pad

Cotton Trifecta Correction Half Pad $155
vs
Full Sheepskin Fleece Correction Half Saddle $262

For providing comfort and shock absorbing, do you prefer one over the other? For an additional $100, is the full sheepskin really worth it?

I have one of each. I use the full sheepskin when a horse has been off work and is rehabbing back, and may have some muscle atrophy. I use the Trifecta on a horse that has a well-fitting saddle, for its shock absorbing properties.

It depends on the horse and the situation. In fitting saddles we have seen the ThinLine sheepskin pad take up a full tree size due to the thickness. That said, we personally ride in them and love them. We use the cotton pad though in the summer, the sheepskin ones can get hot on some horses. Also location location location  If you are in a hot and humid part of the country the sheepskin pads can make some horses miserably hot.

I prefer the quilted for most horses but sheepskin is great for sensitive horses but only when used against the body or if you need more “filling in”, as stated above. I do think it can feel less stable in some situations and certainly requires a bit more care. I have both.
