Thoroughbred broodmare on craigslist - Caro descendant

Oh Fred, she would be such a nice cross with AFR. One of the nicest TBs I have ever sat on was by Cozzene. And Danzig seems to be siring big, beautiful great moving horses. Someone needs her as a sporthorse broodmare.

Oh, what a blast from the past, looks like she was or is at Waterford-Milford Farms, I worked there breaking yearlings in the late 1980s.

So who is going to buy her?

I can attest for good moving Danzig horses my Boundary mare is a powerhouse of a mover.

Wow! Nice looking mare, love the pedigree. Would love to see her in an event breeding program.

Hey guys, was trying to while away some time, so decided to go to peruse the old stand-by for Time Wastage-- Craigslist. Anyway, found this ad and immediately remembered the posting on COTH. She’s definitely in KY, and still for sale. Seller asking $1000, but sounds like she’d take just about any reasonable offer. C’mon, someone please take her! Breeding time is just starting to gear up… (hint, hint!)

Oh my stars, that is my kind of woman. I wonder if Brookledge has a spot in a trailer heading southwest…

I would take her, I have room for one more. My only concern would be what to do with her if she couldn’t carry a foal.

I have emailed them, so we will see

This is such a quality mare - I hope she finds a good home.

Carol, I believe there was a blog where she was working w her under saddle so that may be an option if she wasn’t able to catch.

I think a Connemara breeder needs this mare, what a jumping/eventing machine that would be. Maybe a ISH breeder? I’ll ask one today.

I contacted the owner as well but I have not received a response. I left a message via cell phone and email Wondering if this mare already has been sold.

Crazy scenario…Carter’s purchase, breed to AFR, and syndicate the foal later on ??? Or something along that line…

And if the foal was a colt, perhaps he would be a future stallion prospect…

Finally spoke to the seller of this mare, and she now has a contract on her. Will basically be a pet in Kentucky. :frowning:

A loss of nice bloodlines, but if she’s well cared for, it’s a better outcome than many that end up sold on CL. The “pet” horse does not typically care about what it might have been so long as it has a full belly, shelter from the elements, and routine care.

Better to be someone’s pet than to end up in a “horse mill” type operation ala Gray Fox Farm, where she may have only been cared for as long as she could keep on producing babies.

Well… if anyone is dead set on a Caro descendant…
