TK / Arabian Cross Pedigree For Eventing

I purchased a lovely, older, proven TK/TB broodmare by Meisterwind in SD and the seller offered me a 3 yr old filly by the same sire at a great price. The seller hasn’t had a chance to do much with the filly and they are cutting back on a few broodies so offered her to me as a traveling companion to my old girl. At first I said no because, well, she’s half Arab. Much as I love Arabs (There! I said it! I’ve come out of the closet as an Arab lover!) they aren’t, for the most part, looked upon favorably in the Sport Horse world. And then I was curious and started researching her pedigree. I couldn’t find much out about the Arab side of her pedigree, hence this post, but I did find a video of her full brother free jumping and he’s quite a nice little jumper. So I said, what the hey, and told them I’d take her! All you Arab gurus that are in the know, is there anything good (or bad) in her pedigree or is it just “there”?

Thanks in advance! The horses are being picked up today and should be home in a couple of days (unless they end up stranded in a snow storm!)!

I should know a lot more about arabian bloodlines than I do-- I grew up in the arab world! But all I’ve got is that Nazeer, Morafic, and El Mokhtar are all highly influential Egyptian sires. Fun fact-- El Mokhtar was the “Black Stallion” in the films, or at least one of them.

Hopefully an actual arabian guru can chime in with more!

Congrats on the new horse! I would love to see a picture. I have a Selle Francais/Hanoverian/Arabian cross who would probably be tearing it up in eventing if she didn’t have such a wimpy and unmotivated pilot (me).

Ok. ![]( did this all on my cell phone so hoping it worked. None of these are pictures that normally would have sold me a horse but I love her sire and her full brother.

Congrats on your new girl! I event a little Arab/Oldenburg cross that I absolutely adore. She gets notice everywhere she goes and the judges seem to love her. She has great feet and stamina from the Arab and awesome movement from the warmblood side.

Cute, cute, cute! She’s lovely and you look so happy on her! I hope my girl grows up to look just like your’s!

I am no guru, but I would call her dam 3/4 straight Egyptan and 1/4 Crabbet breeding. Crabbets are good performers generally. Sometimes some prejudice against straight Egyptians as performance horses but I think it’s highly dependent on the horse. She is very attractive and has the TK to add to the performance potential! Enjoy her!

I happened to stumble onto the talent of the half arabs a few years ago. Fast forward and it’s all I own or breed anymore. http://thearabiansporthorse.com/news/arabian-eventing-results/

I could not be happier with my Arab/Trakehner mare. She’s short, but that was fine with me, and built like a mini-warmblood. Our trainer has referred to her as the “Pocket Trakehner.” She’s super athletic; probably one of the most athletic horses I’ve ridden.

She does have an arab mare brain, but I don’t mind that. She’s very smart and has an opinion. She’s not a beginner’s horse but I’m as amateur as you get, and we’ve been able to make steady progress through inconsistent weekly lessons only. She is totally kid friendly on the ground, and I’ve even put my boyfriend and beginner rider friend on her in a controlled environment. She will babysit until she gets bored. Boredom is our biggest enemy, which is also what has made her very easy to start over fences. She enjoys a challenge.

She has a refined head but doesn’t scream arab in any way. Most people have no idea what she is, and if she wasn’t so short, she would not stick out in a a sea of traditional sport horses. So I’m no help on the Arab pedigree side, but I think you made a good choice!

Still waiting on the shipper. Horses are supposed to be picked up at the seller’s in SD today. If nothing else goes wrong…

This little mare is going to my nineteen year old daughter for Christmas (well, after my trainer) and I’ll borrow her back when when she’s done Eventing and breed her to a TK; if everything goes according to plan. Currently my daughter is riding a Percheron Arab cross who is way too big for her. She loves him but can’t wait to have a prospect that’s more her size!

I’m much more excited about her being half Arab than I was when I started this thread!
