To wrap or not to wrap?

I use the Alushield on most cuts and scraps. I think it works quite well. Hope your horse is better already.

That’s why I don’t allow rope leads in my barn. They can and do easily wrap around a horse’s leg. Good leather shanks much less so. Rope leads do not break nearly as easily as a leather one when needed, if it will break at all.

Rope, natural/nylon leaves a heck of a rope burn if pulled threw one’s hand unexpectedly, leather not nearly as much if at all. So the person on the lead is far less likely to let go.

And I see where I missed your “on ankle”, and where my comments about “never” were not clear LOL I don’t have a problem with furacin as a sweat for reducing inflammation on a whole leg, assuming no broken skin. I didn’t think to add that, as I assumed (I know, I know!) the context would make it clear, so my bad. I still don’t think a sweat is warranted just for where and how much this swelling is

Do you have a favorite leather lead? I love how they look, but they are also, for me at least, harder to hold onto if a horse gets rambunctious. Being flat, and of course being more slick (which is obviously the reason it would take a lot more pressure to create a friction burn, though they still could) just makes it harder, even with gloves on (and depending on the glove, especially with gloves on).
