Too old to get a puppy? update #44 Puppy has been sold

Oh yeah, the puppy zoomies! I remember those with my first puppy - I encouraged it when possible as it wore him out for at least a short while.

We’ve got a new girl joining the household (2 dogs, 2 humans - SO and I are about to be outnumbered) in 3 days so we’re making preparations now. Note to self - pick up shoes and remote controls…

Our puppy ate my sentimental, irreplaceable FLOOR LAMP.

She’s lucky I love her to pieces.

My first (and to date only) puppy chewed up my roommate’s prescription glasses. He also got ahold of my paycheck, in the days before direct deposit was a thing, and of course he only tore off the corner with the signature. Fairness to him, it was in a coat pocket that had recently been filled with training treats.

Cord/cable protectors are ordered and should be here in a day or two. We leave tomorrow to drive to Michigan to get her. We rented a minivan and both dogs will go with us, in crates of course.

Integrating her into the pack of two will be staged and closely supervised and free access to the entire house will be given a room at a time. I don’t anticipate any issues with Zoe accepting her - Zoe’s very laid back about everything. Chelly has snatched food literally out of her mouth and she doesn’t react at all other than to look at the human to ask for replacement food. Chelly might be a little bit possessive of me and possibly of “his” room (laundry room), though he is not all so where Zoe is concerned.
