Top Gear Hunting Challenge

Oh dear - not a fan then?
I can’t stand these jerks…anybody watch the episode when they came to America, painted “Man Boy Love” on their car and proceeded to go around insulting the provincial white trash-typical Americans? Of course, this fits in with the Euro-trash version of us.

Sorry, don’t need these b#@$%$ds or find em’ entertaining.
Touchy much?

The “provincial white trash” hardly did themselves much good by fetching “the boys” to sort out the TG team now did they? In fact I’d say that the behaviour of the PWT lived right upto the Euro trash expectation.

Get over it.

Top Gear takes the piss out of everything, everywhere, nothing is off limits.

Probably why it is the best programme on British TV and the only thing that makes having to pay a licence fee worthwhile - yes we even have to pay to watch terestial TV in the UK.

The Hamster’s wife hunts with the Ledbury according to the interview Jezza did a few weeks ago in the Sunday Times.

Right, this bit of Euro trash is going back to eating lunch and watching re-runs of Top Gear:yes:

Touched a nerve there, did it?

While I admit that the episodes in question and Jezza’s occasional trashing of the good ol’ US of A (and the cars there) sometimes rankles, I just chalk it up to him being a jerk and go on to enjoy the rest of the series.

I suppose I have a bit of a different perspective than most, though.

Yep and like it or not they aren’t going to backdown on any topic.

I enjoy the show a great deal although I’m sure I’m not alone having winced at a few of their gags and cracks. Still by and large the core part of the series is informative and entertaining. The final production quality by the BBC crew is head and shoulders above the rest for any other show with type of content.

Too bad the BBC has in their constant hawk-like hunting had these vids pulled down :frowning:

They haven’t pulled down the Test they did in Hungary of the new Fiat 500 - James May, btw, didn’t love it.

Sometimes it is hard to see how the rest of the world sees us, just like we have a VERY skewed, and often wrong, view of the rest of the world.

I agree, I was very uncomfortable with that episode but combined with listening to radio stations from all over the world and talking with my friends in other countries, I saw that it was pretty much how we are seen outside of our borders, even in Asia and Far East. Not flattering when seeing us through other eyes.

The best line in the world, “I’m drifting AND washing my hair!”

That was the funniest episode EVER! Loved it. They (and the writers) are brilliant and the cinematography is stunning. Speedvision (the NASCAR channel) is so stupefying nowadays that I am thrilled that 5th Gear and Top Gear exist. Thank God for a car show that doesn’t cater to Neanderthals.

But I’m just Canadian Euro-trash so WTF do I know?

I have never heard of Top Gear before. This hunt episode is great. I want to paint my Tahoe to look like a fox the tail just cracks me up. Kudos to who ever got the Hampsters horse ready he has a lot of white that was just gleaming.

I’d like to see the episode that was done in the US. It might be nice to see how the rest of the world see’s us. Any one know were I’d find a link to that? I don’t have cable. I’m not home enough to justify paying for TV that I don’t watch.

It wasn’t funny – in fact, it was a little unnerving. Rather like watching an accident on the way to happening – all you can do is stare helplessly with bated breath thinking “Oh, god no! No, no no! Are you INSANE!!!”

Turns out their skit backfired big time. It was frightening at the end – more so for the camera crew and the Top Gear guys who had to make a fast escape from a group of vigilantes – next shot was them (including the camera crew) as on the side of the road frantically scrubbing down those cars to remove all traces of the insulting graffiti. No joking by anyone at that point – they were seriously scared. I think they even gave a backhanded apology to the American south at the show (or end of the skit) – recognizing that what they had done was an insensitive and insulting thing (that “the show directors” had told them to do) – and pulling the same type of prank anywhere else would have been just as insulting to that culture as well, including if they had done the same to their own British public.

Doubt they’d pull something like that again. It was headed towards in a really nasty physical confrontation, and could have ended badly.

Someone has put up the fox hunt episiode again: youtube: Top Gear - Fox Hunt

Enjoy quickly before it’s gone

<pointing to braids> “My horse has had a Brazilian”. Priceless…boy oh boy was jealous, nice horse, nice country.

I don’t know why people are so offended by Jezza, I take most of what he says as tongue in cheek, he knows he’s being a buffoon, and he’s giving it his best shot. One of my fave shows of all time, right up there with the camping trip and the US adventure.

“We’re on the cutting edge of cocking about”…

Its one of our favourite programmes. Both my wife and I are speed freaks and Susan in particular is a bit of a motorhead with a penchant for fast flashy cars as well as fast flashy horses.

Both Jeremy Jezza Clarkson and Richard Hamster Hammond have “country connections” and are advocates for the country.

But the whole programme is the antithesis for political correctness and a lesson in British irony and sarcasm as humour.

When we met “Jezza” when he was up this way shooting, I’ve got to say we’ve never laughed so much for ages and at the end of the day we actually said that our faces hurt!

The episodes we thought were hilarious was the one last night whereby the English took on the Germans at motor sports to get their own back on them for being anal and over efficient! The one where he converted a mercedes into an English country cottage to improve it because it was “boring”! And the one where they took a caravan out on holiday and blew it up by mistake! and to show how stupid all caravan owners are.

as well as Germans, Italians,Swiss,Manchester United and Dentists with earphone pieces…they are hysterical and we try to never miss them on…
