Towing Capacities and Horse Trailers

It was loaded when I drove out and really did get blown all over the road. I am used to a much larger vehicle and trailer. I will be checking the wind before hauling with it again, that’s for sure haha.

Haha! Good to know!

Sorry maybe I am asking a naif question but, I am going to buy a new car for hauling my horses. Now I am wonder between Chevy Blazer and Buick Enclave. Both have a towing capacity of 5000 lb on their 4*4 class. However based on your experience do you think these cars can tow/ break a horse trailer of 3800 lb carrying two big warm-blood horses (16.3) on any steep or uphill ?

I wouldn’t tow a live load with either. Both are way too light and their wheelbases are way to short. Plus a trailer weighing 3800 lbs. and two horses will put you well over 5000 lbs.

I agree with @cutter99 - I would not tow a horse trailer with either. You need something with a wider and longer wheelbase. Only look at vehicles that are based on a truck chassis (body on frame).

Here is a list of “true” SUVs - though I don’t think I’d tow a horse trailer with a Jeep Wrangler either, but I think the others are OK (but would have to look at each individually for towing limits to be sure).
