Mystery Deepens
My Friend towed my BP with his truck and it pulled beautifully no vibrations at all ,so for sure it is not the trailer or trailer tires.
I then towed a 20foot hay trailers with the Expedition and there was no problem, no vibrations even up to 6MPH.
I’m sure the hay trailer is lighter than my empty aluminum 2H BP but still what a mystery.
I do suspect all these new electronic are causing trouble.
I don’t think the mechanics can keep up with the new technology in our vehicles.
This is a 2018 which was the new model year for the Expedition .
Totally lost and Ford is not helpng though the truck has only 15K on it.
My guess. Check the tongue height after connecting to your Expedition vs your friend’s truck. The height of the hitch when the tongue weight compresses the rear springs might be very different. Your trailer probably balances differently on your Expedition loaded vs empty due to tongue weight.
I’d post your problem on horsetrailerworld.com before I would spend a lot of money. There are some very smart trailer/truck people on that site that would be happy to help.
Problem Solved:
Thinking about it and reading COTH comments I decided all that was left was software problem, not that I’m at all tecky.
I pushed the Ford repair folks to look at the transmission software and do a update and reinstall. Now remember I don’t know what I’m talking about.
YEA , they updated the transmission "performed PCM AND TCM " updates and it pulls like a dream. Also now the rear camera is showing me my trailer hitch and a dotted line from truck to trailer.Proof it wasn’t set rigtht at the factory.
ANYWAY just a heads up with any new car/truck ,all this new technology is beyond many car mechanics so if they can’t fix your problem make them look at the software.
I did have to make them do it…
Good for you !!! A big cheer from the sidelines !!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
So glad you won’t be stuck with that problem indefinitely.
OP just remember that software issue when self driving cars come down the road headed your way
Just remember that human software is not that good either.
Although right now we may say probably better than the computer programs out there.
It may just be a question of time for computer software be the better mousetrap.
OP, great you asserted yourself and now all is running smoothly.
