Toyota Tundra

I have the standard mirrors on my Chevy, it’s an 01 and I think the “tow mirrors” came out in ‘02 . I don’t notice, honestly, with a 2H. Granted when I was hauling the 31’ GN, I needed those bad boys on the other truck… But not with my current set up.

I’m also considering the Tundra in a few years. Nothing wrong with my truck, touch wood, and it’s paid off, but I do like the Tundra look. And my truck gets 8 mpg, so the better fuel economy is attractive ;).

Only chiming in because of the airbags. DEFINITELY pay extra and get the remote control system. xDH had the manual on one dually and wouldn’t let the air out. If you want to define misery, try sitting in a truck with fully inflated airbags while going over a pothole or speed bump with bruised ribs. :dead:. Next truck had the remote system.

Totally true! Definitely nice to have if you’re shopping and find one with those features for the same price. That’s how it was when I was looking-part of the tow package for most but not all of the trucks avail. Helped prioritize over another “nice” which was the sand (dirt camo) color.

I think the side view mirrors were plenty big- but when I start towing later on and change my mind, can those be changed???
Also, I have yet to figure out what option those air bags in the suspension are under. The dealer also had no idea what I was talking about, not surprisingly. There are several different options with the shocks.

Love my tundra. I tow a 14ft steel stock trailer with mine, it’s like its not even there.

I recommend getting the towing mirrors upfront, they are expensive aftermarket. I put mine on aftermarket and they were $600 plus installation.

The air bags mentioned above you buy aftermarket. They are inflatable bags installed under the back end of the truck to give the suspension a bit more sturdiness. I don’t have them but may consider them at some point. Depends in the tongue weight of your trailer whether you can really benefit from them. In general they are not necessities and generally the dealers don’t install them.

Love my tundra. Don’t bother with the Tacoma. It costs nearly the same but is not meant for real work. I’ve had my truck 2 years now, no issues. Just maintenance. I put regular fuel in it with no issues.

Mine is 2014 double cab 4WD. Because a truck without 4WD is just dumb imo. Maybe if you never have done or mud but here we only have / seasons, snow and mud!!!

Definitely getting 4wd as this would be primary vehicle. I can’t do without 4 wd.
Thank you again for all the information!! I’m putting this on the backburner while I sort out transitioning to another job, but I will be purchasing soon. To cover my bases, I’m going to look at the Chevy or GMC comparable mid size truck. At least see if ones available to look at at a dealership.
