The livestock haulers howled when it was suggested because the stock would conceivably be on the trailer longer and they may be forced to stop at inappropriate places.
ETA these were all food animal haulers that I saw saying this

A beautifully redacted bill of lading. Searched for a little bit for an actual Creech one.
DH is an attorney. I am going to ask him if the disclaimer at the top actually holds any weight.
That’s shockingly low.
I was wondering about separate insurance though. Loss of use, mortality, etc that people get on their horses. Would that cover? Or do they have waivers that commercial hauling doesn’t count?
I don’t know about horse shippers but an owner/operator of a semi once told me about a load she had going to CA that was pricey. Something in her head told her to increase the insurance on the load, so she raised it from 100k to 300k. Accident happens, not her fault but that was another issue. The shipper came after her for a huge load pay-out and her insurance covered everything.
Commercial auto is a disaster right now - with or without livestock.
