The round bales I buy are 1,000lbs and I have a bad back…there is no tipping the round bale up on the pallet. I can manage backing the truck up to the pallet and wiggling the round bale off the bed onto the pallet. Wherever it lands is where it stays until it’s used up.
These have all been great suggestions. I’m going to try folding the tarp smaller so that the sides have airflow, put the tarp under the pallet on the ground and add a few spare 4x4s on top of the bale to keep the tarp lifted up higher. I’ll check back in after the next round bale. To be honest the current one has been fine uncovered It rains and gets the outer layer wet but I’m peeling that off and feeding daily so it seems to be keeping any mold at bay. This would be my backup plan if the new tarp situation doesn’t work. It really seems like just summer is the issue we’re having an unusually humid string of days/weeks.
