Triple Crown Diamond line: Only at TSC

You have a lot more faith in them than I do.

4health is made for them and certain products are out of stock all the time. Back when I used to buy their Dumor stuff like hay cubes they would also disappear for weeks or months at a time.

Plus, grain mites. The TSC in Dover, DE is the only store I’ve ever seen that actively does something about grain mites and even they get problems.

I’ve literally returned bags for being full of grain mites or weevils and watched the employee tape the bag up and put it back on the shelf with a discount sticker.

And this is not just my immediate area. I’ve lived all over the country, including in the same county as their headquarters! It’s an everywhere problem.

I wonder if it could be dependent on where it ships from. I guess my relationship w them is more love/hate, too.
@JB, the Active Senior used to be very inconsistent to get here. I’d have to check w three different stores in my area. I’ve also had to have it shipped to me. It’s reliably better now.
My veterinarian recommended it because it’s extruded. My neighbor’s horse, who also had colic surgery is on it, as well. She has a thickened colon wall. She has never looked better.

I actually called TC to see if there was any way to get Senior Active elsewhere.

Just want to give my experience with 4Health. I fed it for years to a few dogs. Then my current dog had to go to an emergency clinic a couple hours away to drain fluid from his chest cavity and spend some time in an oxygen tank. They were saying possible cancer, didn’t look good, etc. but could not give a definite for why this had happened. I knew something was wrong because he was struggling to breathe even at rest. They drained a lot of fluid and said it would take some time for him to recover and there was no promise the fluid wouldn’t come right back.

Long story short, I did what we all do and scoured the internet trying to figure out what had caused this and if there was anything I could do to prevent it reoccurring. What I found out was that some dog foods that use legumes like peas and lentils have been suspected of being linked to dogs that developed pleurisy.

I read the label of the 4Health Sensitive Skin and Coat (or whatever it’s called…used to be a white bag with a husky on the front) and found that peas were a main ingredient. There’s more to it than simply being peas = bad, it’s something about how the ingredients in “grain free” dog foods don’t contain something that limits something else or…something. LOL. It’s been a while sense I went down the rabbit hole.

Bottom line. I switched from the food, went through a few (Orijen was one, can’t remember others), and even did the Ollie human grade food and then just cooking for him for awhile (he wasn’t eating well at all for a few weeks after his hospital stay). Finally landed on Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. He’s been right as rain since. Skin and coat are the best ever, and no hint of the pleurisy returned.

A little over a year prior to this experience, my older (but not old) dog got extremely sick and the vet was stumped. Never could figure out what was wrong with him. I lost him to the mystery sickness.

I’m not saying it was the 4Health, but I’m never feeding it again. I’m sure plenty of dogs live long, healthy, happy lives on it.

And completely unrelated to dog food…does TSC not carry the Unbeetable beet pulp shreds without molasses anymore? I don’t see them on the site and definitely didn’t see them in the store today. It seems there was a post or thread about this not too long ago, and I dismissed it, but now I’m seeing the same thing.

Easy enough to autoship from Chewy at least.

I’m so sorry your dog faced something so scary and challenging and this is in no way to discount any of that, but this whole thing of BEG (boutique, exotic, grain free) food causing issues had been very largely walked back and disproven.

That’s because they don’t sell enough of if to run out, I’m guessing.

When purchasing from TSC, always check the date code on the bag and inspect carefully for grain mites. They are notoriously terrible at inventory management.
