It really isn’t expensive going the homemade route. It costs me a little time and 25 cents per day to feed each cat. The latest Siamese rescue had a few rough weeks while we explained that dry food wasn’t an option. He went from 18 pounds and staring at diabetes to a healthy 12 pounds.

I have been feeding Wellness Core to the 2 dogs and 4 cats here but the expense is getting ridiculous. I just picked up some of the 4Health brand kibble for both and will report back in a few weeks

I have seen cats refuse to eat and go into hepaticlipidosis. One owner was bound and determined to make her cat eat the “healthier” food. Cat flat out refused. Owner stuck to her guns. Cat ended up hospitalized. The cat did loose weight though…

This is why I don’t fight them on the wet food or ‘real’ foods (ie human-grade chicken.) They would rather starve than eat a food they don’t like. They’ll even pitch a fit about the wrong TEXTURE (apparently We do not care for pate texture, unless it’s Fancy Feast and then only if it does not contain fish. We prefer slices. Not shreds, SLICES.)
