Tucson?

There’s a very, very remote possibility I could relocate to Tucson in the fall…and aside from Kathleen Zins, who is fairly close and who I work with every chance I get, I’m pretty clueless about barns and events in the area. So, I would like to do my homework. Barns? Trainers? Events? Is there an eventing community there?

The only event close was Grass Ridge and 2014 was its last year. Your next closest will be Coconino in Flagstaff, St Johns and Las Cruces, and all will be several hours haul.

Alice Sarno is a great trainer in the general vicinity, but she’s in Scottsdale and not really that close to Tucson.

Hi, I’m stuck in Tucson & event (or try to)- feel free to PM me if you want some info. I’ve been here five years so I think I know at least a little something about every barn/trainer in the area.

Nowhere resembling “the general vicinity” when it’s a state away for someone from a smaller state. However, to someone coming from Texas, 150 miles may count! I haven’t been to Kathleen’s (only rode with her when she came up here), but I think she’s closer than that.

Manuela Propfe, Denise Kraus-Spangler, and I think Lisa Brunner is no longer training.

The loss of Grass Ridge is a huge one, because it also eliminated one of the biggest places for locals to go school x-country. One of my friends rides w/ my (dressage) trainer, then goes to clinics elsewhere and works x-country with Manuela. My trainer evented advanced back during long format days, then was an assistant trainer at a GP jumper farm, so can help there, too, but there aren’t a ton of event trainers around.
