Channel 603 on DirecTV and I think 227 is Comcast NBCSN around here. Follow this link to find your local information.

When he said that the horse was fine and I saw the obvious lameness, I thought…how can they not see that? Granted, it wasn’t three-legged lame at that point, but clearly the horse was NOT fine.
Maybe he’s used to racing, where the injuries shown on tv are very obvious and catastrophic.

If the eventing horse was up and walking, well, to most people, he’s fine.

You guys are hard on Melanie. She’s not perfect, but keep in mind that she is seeing all of this on the same TV screen that you are, in real time, with no preview, no time-delay and no opportunity to retract a comment that might not have been brilliant. I bet it’s difficult; way more difficult than it looks.
Sounds good in theory, but the British commentator (Mike Tucker) on the NBC online live stream was also seeing the same thing unfold in real-time, and was superb.

The cross-coluntry thread has many positive posts about his work.

He is, and I quote, “The BBC’s voice of equestrianism”

Honestly, MST is pretty non complimentary about some stuff. So I don’t see how she gets to be held to a lower standard.

“Whine, it’s hard to be a commentator. Give her a break.”

Maybe she should give the riders a break for their flopping ties and lack of hairnets.

I noticed she didn’t cooment on the American with flapping tie. Noticedmhe started knocking jumps when it came out.

Oy vey, the poor American commentators apparently don’t have access to a laptop? They don’t know IK withdrew.

Maybe someone on COTH should volunteer to go ‘live’ with them and keep them in the loop.
