*Two* newbie foxhunting opportunities for CotH crew!

We can do!!

We can arrange if we know you’re coming! We can do anything for our hunting princess friends & supporters!
But…you’d have to bring the donuts! Car followers gotta eat ya know!
nom…nom…nom…burp! Oh…and I like pastries too! And shee-shee coffee goes well with that…

Of course I could bring donuts and coffee! The November date works better for me. I’ll let you guys know ahead of time for sure if I can make it.

so it’s my birthday tomorrow~~~

And as my dream present to myself I’d LOVE to come with you all to Hunter’s Rest in September. I’ve never been before, and cannot imagine a more fun introduction to the delightfully delicious world of hunting than with you all. I literally have been counting the days until the last of my six kids heads off to college to do this. Which is today. In ten minutes. Vehicle’s packed and in the driveway. Waiting for me. But I had to post this first. Heeeeelllllooooooo hunting world! Can I come with?

Onwardb- we were just mixing up a new batch of that extra special kool aid!! We have plenty to pass around. This is how hunting princesses are made.

Wow 6 kids!!! You deserve many weekends away!!

Hunters rest is a great spot to learn and enjoy. The environment is very welcoming to the novice and experienced alike. Lots to do and great people to be surrounded with.

Welcome!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy Birthday!

We would love to have you come play with us! Please contact Hunter’s Rest at her email address. She needs time to organize all the details, match horse and rider, etc. We will switch to private emails as the time gets closer, so you need to be on the list.

So, start shopping for your tiara, dust off your hunting clothes, and work on getting fit.

We’ll have FUN!

Ok Hunter’s Rest, I just can’t resist this invite despite trying! I seriously can’t afford to leave the country in September though, just finished a graduate degree and don’t start work till next week.

But the November date is a definite option. What the chances of getting a mount that I don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for? I don’t own and couldn’t ship down if I did, so I’ll be begging a ride. I hunt first field on green-beans and seasoned horses in Ontario. Happy to hunt greenies provided they aren’t bat-sh*t crazy. Will work for lodging and a horse! Happy to braid, bandage, clip, tack up and clean tack, etc etc.

If anyone is coming from Ontario or en-route, I’d be more than happy to tag-team a drive, I’ve driven 4horse trailers before, will help with your horses in exchange for a mount, etc.

Corky,
Congratulations on finishing grad school! What is the area of study? How long is your break?

As the lucky mom of 3 in grad school, 2 of which are headed toward the PhD, I certainly feel for you! You NEED some celebrations of your huge accomplishment…:slight_smile:

I’m from Michigan, but I’ve decided to take the train down there and not drive. I haven’t decided whether I’m renting a car but if I do, you’re welcome to hitch a ride when we do not-on-horseback things. (And despite posts to the contrary, I’m not as
dipsomanical as one might imagine.

Since so many people are lining up for November, I may have to start saving some money to see if I can go again then. Although I think vacation time may be even more scare than money by then, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Onwardb and Corky, you should pm or email Hunter’s Rest directly about the details of horses and costs. It’s a wonderful experience, hope to see you!

Aw thanks! I just finished my MA in Religion and Culture - I specialize in Religion and Politics. So yet another useless arts degree  Hoping for work in public service, intelligence, research/communications etc. I’m also applying for a PhD but only if I get some serious funding because I’m gettin sick of being a poor student!

This is why I’m hoping for a ride for the November 12th meet. Hiring horses is pricey and until I have a fancy job to match the fancy degree, coin is something I have not :S Now excuse me while I go back to my wine and writing cover letters

Chiming in here because I’m starting to feel left out, and it just feels like hunting season…

Ya’ll better do this again next fall! I can’t do two hunting weekend extravaganzas in one year, but I’m dying to hunt in beautiful autumn weather. Spring was a blast, but I always get the bug in the fall.

While I have 2 horses, Orielly whacked an old splint and has been on stall rest…so send us some jingles so he will heal. I was planning riding him and my friend ride my other horse…so keep fingers crossed…

note to self!

Wow! I rode w/Old Dominion Hounds yesterday for first day cubbing!! My greenie mare did great. Cowabunga! Predicatably green kinda things and except for some tack problems (reins broke 3 times!) and loading problem to go home…it was a great day. Hounds hit as soon as we moved off and drew the first covert! Holy Crap! My mare got baptized very, very quickly! My nerves got baptized too. Note to self…gotta notch up that “fitness program”!! Note to self…gotta remember to actually put the cleaned tack IN the trailer and leave it hanging on the porch! Note to self…gotta buy a vented hard hat…ick!! Note to self…gotta practice that loading thing A LOT MORE!! :frowning: sigh…Wonderful day kinda ended on an exhasperated note! But hunting again…PRICELESS!!

Maresy just didn’t want to leave the party! ;-p

Glad you are back and at it again!!

Hmmmm…maybe you’re right. I WAS parked right next to the tailgate ya know…hmmmm…I think it was because she didn’t get a piece of carrot cake…well that’s my story right now so…

Carfollowed this morning and viewed 2 foxes…views really get me going I gotta say…wooooo hooooo! Scenting kinda spotty for a dampish kinda morning. I love cubbing!

Car followers

I hope I can join in the festivities this year! I’m moving to DC in a couple weeks, but not sure if i’ll be there by the 24th. If I am, I’d love to tag a ride with someone car topping. I will bring pastries and premium liquor and/or coffee

I definitely plan to participate in November as well, although after a 2 year hiatus in riding, I will probably be too out of shape to even hilltop. Not complaining though…at least in the car, you can eat/drink anytime

Wow, I would love to be there for Nov. but I am afraid I will still be tied up (and broke) from putting the touches on the farmette of my Very Own, and getting horsey’s new roommate. But spring! Let’s think spring!

Yay!

Wooohooo Linquest is coming here?!!! yaaayyy! You’ll fit right in ‘round heah mah dear!! Call us when you get settled and we’ll assist in your “assimilation”!! :uhoh: We fellow Snobbington Hunt members gotta look out for each other! I got yer back!
Altho’ moving to DC is a bit of a curse in so many ways…the fun begins way out beyond the beltway. Go west young lady!!

Getting towards final for 9/24 CotH hunt!
