Ultimatedressage.com - can you get in???

The NEW message:
Ultimate Dressage - Ultimate Eventing - Support for UCM

We are currently performing maintenance on our server.

JULY 8:: Do not despair, the UDBB has not vanished. We are currently performing some badly needed maintenance on the code used to enable the sites as well as the operating system on the server (aka “suzy”). The server has been slow for the last couple weeks and we have found the “intruder” and a faulty drive has been of no help either.

FAQ: Why is this taking so long? Because this is a Linux server colocated in an otherwise Windosws world and to ask for tech support costs $150/hr and a tech can spend 10 hrs just before he understands what he’s working with. I elect to take the server off the rack and work on it myself, through the assistance of a wonderfully giving individual in CA who helps me through this. Remember there are no deep pockets supporting this server like other forums and we can’t afford what some of them are paying. We have spend a pretty penny on this new server, it just needs maintenance from time to time. So you are stuck with “the man behind the curtain” for now.

Please check back shortly. Thank You for understanding.

Mark Susol, Ultimate Creative Media

I just had a thought.

We as a group of loyal UDBB members should put together a fund to help get Suzy back up and running?

Anyone in?

And where do we send it?

Hey Mark…good to hear from you. We could pass the hat!
No worries we will all be back…and I am sure we will bring along a few recruits. Hope Suzy is up for it!!

We might better send Mark some beer and peanuts!!!

Hey 4-beatin-it Great minds…

Observations from a “Novice”

I find I like both COTH and UDBB…sort of like taking a clinic from different trainers: Different strengths/emphasis but you can enjoy and learn from both!

COTH (INVHO  ) has stronger Hunter/Jump,Eventing,Horse Care,Breeding Forums. And it IS more liberal (in that they alow more "on-the-edge snarky humor)

UDBB: Stronger Off Course (threads about movies/books/politics/non-horse stuff 24-7 rather than only on Off-Topic Days) and a very active
Tack Forum. And a much stronger Dressage Forum. But then, UDBB IS a DRESSAGE Bulletin Board!
The UDBB administrator is more “hands-on” about about enforcing civil discussions and not allowing “snarky personal remarks”…

COTH’s Dressage Forum does have a “Tough Rep” even within the other COTH Forums (H/J,Eventing,Off Course)
My experience has verified this rep: discussions quickly dissolve into personal snarking and name calling (sometimes in German  )

Amazingly, just before it went down there was a very interesting DISCUSSION on UDBB where participants from Netherlands,England and USA explained their training methods and defended their validity.
No nasty, condesending personal remarks and all questions answered (even dumb questions! )

I guess hototrot put it best:

So, for those that wonder about UDBB give it a try (and not just the Dressage forum…Clanter has some lively political discussions in the “Observation Lounge”!)

So last evening I found my ruby red slippers, tied my hair (all 2 inches of it) into pony tails, and stuffed my little black cat into a basket (since I no longer own a “Toto”). I’ve been clicking my heels together and repeating “I want to go HOME”…nothing has happened yet.

SIGH Maybe soon. I hope before I find myself adding WTF to every post…

We are not in Kansas anymore LOLOL

is there any web board that is only existing as a web board that has 501c3 status?

I have found the UDB site more helpful than the breed clubs that enjoy the tax expemt status

Maybe this is wise, clanter.

You guys, I seriously need some UDBB style help. My little dog Pippin and his nefarious bad sister Holly who is a BAD influence went under the fence last night after I let them out and I still can’t find them. I looked and looked, trekked through the back fields and marshes and the woods and called them. Found tracks way out in the wilder fields along with deer tracks and have not seen a sign of them since. They have been gone since 7 last night and have never never never been gone like this before. Called animal control, searcehd for hours and then went out about every half hour or hour last night and did the same search and called trying not to disturb the neighbors too much. I was out there all night practically and nada. I thought they would be hungry and come home but now I am thinking they must have caught something or foudn food or got taken in. I just want them to come home. :frowning:

I am tired and weepy from lack of sleep and my whole body aches from putting in 330 bales of hay yesterday. WHINE. Jingle please. :frowning:

Oh Zin-- and I thought my day was painful! Chin up, hon, we’re all behind you: Jingles on their way!!!

gosh… when they escape in pairs it becomes a game of hide and seek and they will play around …are there any fast food places near… my guys would be there digging through the dumspter or begging and doing tricks for hand outs… one may even play a fiddle while the other dances

Jingles are you way…and really hope they are found

Can you saddle up and go look for them?

Oh, sorry zinnia - big jingles and hope they come home soon.

NAAH, Pizza and Coke

Thanks guys. Nope no fast food or restaurants of any kind. Our land is rural. The closest restaurant is probably ten miles or more. They I fear have gone way out into the swampy wet woods, acres and acres of overgrown brushy impassable stuff. I did trek as far as I could this morning looking for turkey vultures in the sky, thinking if they had killed anything maybe the vultures would lead me to them. They’ve never killed anything more than mice and moles before but you never know. Oh, once a chinchilla too.

Yes, the problem is they are together. And Holly, the evil bad influence is part siberian husky and could probably happily go completely feral. She has taken off before and been gone for 6 or 8 hours but never with a basenji and never this long. I need to go trek out in the fields again and then maybe start making posters.

Heavens, siberian husky and basenji! Jingles getting bigger! Posters, would flyers through letter slots in doors be a good idea or impractical? This might help morale a tiny bit: a dear friend’s jack russel and her lurcher went wandering for very nearly 2 days; as you can imagine that too is a very very bad combination. We alerted all of the neighbouring farmers and took turns to cover the hedgrows. Finally found the disreputable pair under a hedge about 5 miles away over the fields. Happy ending there-- and I’m sure for you too.

BIG JINGLES!!!

now that would be funny

dogs!

Awww…Zinnia, try not to worry too much. My two girls took off shortly after I got this farm and worried me seriously. The area is surrounded in briars, and brambles and piled up trees and SNAKES!!

I looked everywhere. I was in tears.

They came trotting up the driveway like they’d never been gone. This amazed me because we had only been here about a week, and they found their way home!

Good luck.

Aw, Zinnia, you must be a wreck. Posting notes to the usual places seems more useful than walking and calling. Those naughty pups are probably within hearing distance but they have their paws over their ears saying “nya nya nya, I can’t HEAR you!!!”.

Hope they come home SOON.
