I have read and posted here, but not as much as UDBB because I like the off topic threads. When I’m too busy with life to actually ride my horses I can talk about other things. Here, there is only so much on horse care and breeding, nothing really on facilities questions. And, there Clanter can spout on his many topics and interests- he really is a resource not to be ignored!

I can totally understand that, but they run a pretty tight ship over there and I think that keeps the people who “don’t play well with others” from continually coming back with a different free email account.

I think the tight ship idea is why I post there instead of here. I have a very thick skin about everything in my life except riding. I lurk here everyday. You guys seriously crack me up! But I’m not sure I’m tough enough to take some of the very comments that make me laugh sometimes…kind of hypocritical, I know…but it’s the truth.

With this unusually long period of the “other board” being down, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you saw some of us post here more, now that we’ve gotten our feet wet.

I agree. Having UDBB down isn’t helping my bulletin board addiction though! I’m now checking COTH every day and I’m branching out onto other boards. After Suzy comes back up, I’ll probably continue posting here too.

I like UDBB because it’s off topic day every day, and because I’ve gotten to know people over there. In some weird way, many of their stories, personalities and animals have taken up residence on the periphery of my life.

COTH is a fun board. I’ve lurked on here for a while now, mainly reading the sport horse breeding, eventing and h/j forums. I’m a big fan of Aunt Esther and company. And the train wrecks can be pretty entertaining too. I loved the way Erin, aka “chief cat herder,” handled the VSH thread and the Attention Arab Jumpers thread, both of which have taken wayyyyy too much of my time this week! :lol: I’m afraid if I crack open the favorites forum, I may never get any work done again!

To me COTH is on the edge, cutting news and information, but can be very argumentative - sometimes crossing the line to mean spirited. COTH has highly motivated investigative people that enjoy bringing facts to the population…hmmmm, kind of like a news source. :winkgrin:

The UDBB, maybe because of the tighter moderation, is more like arguing with your family and close friends. I have not seen the hurtful things tossed about there. The ability to discuss other topics is a HUGE plus, and you can relax and not have to “watch your back” so much.

Both are good to have. The UDBB may say tell you that you are butt ugly, and acting like a brat, but they love you anyway, and will help you to find a make-up artist. The COTH people will just tell you that you are stupider than a slug, and enjoy watching you crawl under the rock.

Occasionally I check in on the Horse Community, and that seems like it is mostly a support group - a meeting place for friends.

Well, we have a small board- if you need a BB fix to pass the time, we would love to have some new members. Oh and there is a “off Topic” section called The Manure Pile… you can post about anything if you like I too miss lurking on the UDBB. I don’t post much anywhere, because of how rude and uncouth people can be on these boards. We don’t take that kind of crap on our board!! It’s a very friendly place where we are all there to share, help, and learn!

well I see the differences between the boards as this one is really more like you are at a National Championship where you have parents screaming at their kids in the ring and complaining about the judging where as the UDBB is more like a backyard barbeque where you set down have some good food, a beer or glass of wine and talk horses and just what have they been doing and do you have an idea as to fix this problem I am having… problem could be anything from horse to boy friend to car and by the way how are the kids doing?

Having been a member of the COTH BB and the UDBB for several years now, I find I go back and forth.

I find COTH is more competitive & hunter/jumper and UDBB is dressage and more casual. I love the dynamic of both.

Heavens-- the absolutely LOVLIEST dinner I think we have ever eaten! Soooo good!!! Although my tummy felt like this: :eek: my mouth thanked me!:winkgrin: Must do that again sooner rather than later!

And the potato salad recipe has been used by the Kent Girl Guides for the 4th July festival to a rapturous reaction! Thank you chaps very much!

I 've been reading this thread for a while now and am impressed with you’all undying love for UDBB- but since you’re all here- hogging up the server time- can you please explain what it is that makes UDBB different…that would be an interesting discussion- hopefully in a nice and productive way.
What do you all enjoy there so much? Personally I find COTH more liberal and allowing to express my opinion- which is a huge requirement for me- and makes me really love COTH.
I sometimes read threads on UDBB and there are some very knowledgable folks over there regarding dressage training- but it has a very different dynamic.
Anyone care to explain???

why do i prefer UDBB? becuase this place can be so vicious and so full of hate that it can be overwhelming. (is that liberal?)

i am continually shocked at how some folks act here… and i wonder: would they act the same face to face? (i doubt it!)

i dont like having to put on my armour each time i post…

on the UDBB for the most part, while we may not all agree - at least we can be cival while dissagreeing.

what i find most amazing is that when folks from UBDD come over here and post (especially if they dont agree with the party line here) they are told to get lost - that they aren’t wanted. (at that i have to laugh becuase isnt that what they accuse the UDBB of doing?)

and the bottom line is that on UDBB you can ask as many questions as you want and there will always be discussion and there will always be learning… i just dont see that happening so much over here.

i guess i just see it as a different dynamic… maybe COTH is like a Jr High school girls clique and UDBB is mosre like a small neighborhood.
