jingles jingles!! Sometimes, when the are more stable, a trip home is all they need to make them feel better Hope she can go home soon!
Great news! Little dog came home today We really weren’t sure if this day would come but she is doing great. We finally determined that she has a liver infection (with possible liver disease) paired with pancreatitis. Her bloodwork showed that the pancreatitis was mostly resolved but we’re still working on the liver infection. She will stay on two different antibiotics for at least the next 4 weeks, as well as meds to support her liver and gall bladder.
Thank you so much to all who offered advice, prayers, and well wishes. They are much appreciated. This experience just further proves to me that you should never be afraid to ask questions or get a second opinion if that is what your gut is telling you. We weren’t scheduled to see the ultrasound specialist until this Friday but I’m not sure my dog would still be here right now if our vet hadn’t referred us to NCSU.
Yay!!!
As a fellow Boston owner, I just wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you and your pup. Mine, now 11, has been fighting cancer for an incredible four years, and recently, we’ve had some liver problems. (ALT went up to 750.) With denamarin, it came down to the high 200s (it’s supposed to be under a hundred.) We had a laparoscopic liver biopsy which didn’t really clarify matters. Seems he’s just had so many drugs over the past four years, it did some irreversible damage. We added in vitamin E and the ALT came down to 75. It has been a roller coaster ride for sure, as we are also dealing with arthritis and a very sensitive stomach, but this boy is still loving life and is out there playing ball every day. Bostons are tough little characters for sure. Sending good thoughts your way for a speedy recovery!
Thanks LuLu - they ARE tough little dogs  Glad to hear your little guy had good luck with the Denamarin and Vit E combo and is still feeling good. I need to ask the vet about trying Cindy on the Vit E as I’ve read and heard others say that they got good results by supplementing with that. It sounds like it should be fairly safe and inexpensive so worth a shot.
